    1. Heavy Rain
This really has been the highlight of current gen for me. It reignited my interest in video games at a time when my interest was dwindling. It looks, sounds and plays so well. The re play value is second to none.

    2. Uncharted 2
This game blew my socks off. I loved this game to bits. It was entertainment at its video game best. Its so engaging.

    3. Gran Turismo 5
Sure its more of the same from past gen, but its done so well. The quality of the tracks matches the cars and visa versa, such is the balance. Its one of those games that you know will be there for the entire duration of the Playstation 3's life span. Its just great to return to time and time again, usually during time out from other games.

I am going to say that game in the shopping mall with the zombies, I can't remember the title at all. If only because the sheer numbers was astounding and was a step on the previous gen.

    Best PS3: Uncharted 3
    Best 360: Bayonetta
    Best PC: Fallout 3
    Best Wii: Zelda Skyward Sword

Honourable mentions: Oblivion (PC), Portal (PC), Portal 2 (PC), Heavy Rain and GOW 3 (PS3).

This gen has had my some of my favourite games ever.

EDIT: Is Half Life 2 this gen? If so then that ties with Fallout 3 for my PC pick.

Good thread. Oblivion for me. Never felt immersed like I did in that world.

All things beat 'em up: the spectacular return of Street Fighter, and all the fighters that followed in its wake (and an honourable mention to Virtua Fighter 5 being the best game available on the PS3 for the first year of its life).

Vanquish: i remember thinking what all those platform shoot 'em ups (Probotector, Cybernator, etc) would look like on current hardware, and Vanquish was the answer, and then some.

Skyward Sword: Proof that waggle controls can add to a game. I flogged Ocarina of Time last week because i can't enjoy the combat after playing SS.

Super Mario Galaxy (1 & 2): Made me feel like a kid again, shocking amount of creativity, pure, distilled videogaming joy.

MGS4. Stepping out into an abandoned Shadow Moses being reclaimed by the environment. The only time a game has ever given me goosebumps.

Tough one. In terms of games that me go "wow" in a "this is the future" kind of way, not many.

In terms of the impact its had on the industry, possibly WoW. Sank so many hours into that until they cocked it up with Cata.

Demon's Souls definitely. Oblivion for the first five minutes until I realised just how shallow and lifeless it was. Halo Reach was the game that finally had multiplayer pew pew sink its claws into me. Dead Rising definitely, I remember seeing those first screenshots of hundreds of zombies and being totally convinced they were fake. Was amazed when I played it and found out they weren't.

Good to see the usual trolls are out in force on the front page, evening chaps!

I forgot about my Bad Company 2 online addiction. 240 hours. Saved a bomb because of it, no need for new games!

While I didn't think Red Dead was amazing, the game world was quite something at times. When you ride back after Mexico or to Mexico and that song is playing, truly amazing moment.

Portal 2 when it clicks to perfection.
Limbo, nice attention to detail and loved the simple puzzles.
Lara Croft Guardian of Light. It was just great fun.
BF3, surviving for a long time online while being effective. Intense and fun.

Shadow complex, both Batman games, Portal 2, and there must be an RPG but I can't think of one. Probably Skyrim if I ever get round to playing it.

If you only play one RPG this gen make it Dark Souls.

I have played lots of rpgs this gen, it's just they haven't blown me away. The Witcher was a favourite, and I liked Demon Souls, but sort of dribbled away about half way through, probably because I don't have the time to dedicate myself to a game like that, so haven't gotten around to the sequel yet.

Mass Effect one and two were good, but I don't look back on them with the reverence as I do Planescape, Morrowind, Baldur's gate etc.

Like I said, maybe Skyrim will do it for me.
