    @TarickStonefire
    Aww man that sucks.

How old are you both if you don't mind me asking? I never wanted kids either about 5 years ago.

Any way of blocking this thread from appearing in my EG? It's just that right now I'm increasingly frustrated and angry that the decision as to whether I get to be a father is utterly moot because the wife refuses to be a mother. Despite being a stellar nursery school teacher. I get to hear about ALL the love all her kids at school have for her, while she denies me the experience for myself. So this thread
raises a lot of anger for me :(
Time to ditch her then. No point staying with someone who doesn't want to same things in life as you. You'll only end up despising her in 10-15 years time for it.

I think we wanted to get a load off his chest as opposed to look at how to hide the thread.

Ha, my mate who has a 14 and 12 year old said the same. They're always there, never any peace and quiet! Love em dearly but 30 min bog times are there for a reason...

Sorry to hear that mate. I would never expect you to do something based on what "some guy said on the Internet", but that would be a deal breaker for me.

I always knew I wanted have kids and currently have a 3 year old daughter. It is challenging but absolutely fantastic at the same time. I'd love another kid, but had a lot of change (home / job) going on that got in the way. Now, who knows, nature needs to take it's course, but if my wife was just dead against kids I don't think I could stay with her. It might sound silly, and I love my wife dearly, but it is just too important a thing. To me it is pretty much the sole purpose of life; to procreate. Without being given that opportunity, I don't think I could stop the building resentment crippling our relationship.

I hope for you, that in time your wife comes around. It sounds like she is clearly a natural so she may decide she wants her own one day.

I've always thought life is a cruel and strange beast. There are people out there desperate for kids (crazy as I think that is) who can't have them for various reasons and there's people like me who could probably father a football team and can't stand the thought of children.

    That's life.

I must say, and I'm convinced most other blokes are the same, when we found out I felt pretty smug about it.

It doesn't matter to me if my balls work or not. In fact, I'd rather they didn't for added protection :-)

Heh, was the same when we were going through fertility treatment. To have the doc says swimmers were OK, couldn't help but smile!

@tarick what are her reasons? Could be she's scared she can't rather than doesn't want to...

Yeah, can't deny that knowing for sure I wasn't firing blanks did give me a certain satisfaction. If I could have properly high fived my reflection, I probably would have.

When I found out I was going to be a dad the feeling was a mixture of despair (as I felt I wasn't prepared) and relief everything worked downstairs.

I'm a lazy bastard, stuck in a dead end job with no real career goals but having a son has easily been the best thing about my life.  Being a dad is the only thing I'm really any good at!

They would surely start their displays well after my inquisitive 2 year old is fast asleep if they weren't cunts.

My 3 year old and her 5 year old cousin were out in my garden around 19:00 as I set off some small fireworks for them. My conversations were therefore quite different:

    What ones next Daddy?

    Can I choose?

    I want to pick!

    No, I want to pick!

    It's my turn!

    I picked that one!

That one was brilliant, I picked that one!

My one was better than the one you picked!

    I want a rocket next!

No, it's my turn, I want a fountain!

Just to be clear, they weren't setting them off as the conversation might suggest, just pointing at which one they wanted next with Mummy. I'm a risk manager by trade so it's fair to say I didn't pass them a lighter and set them on their way, lol.

I don't know how we would survive if there wasn't the 12 year old. She loves to play and hang out with her 19 month old sister.

Expecting our second on the 29th November. Currently have a 22 month old boy so fun and games ahead! We were trying for ages for number 1, and number 2 arrived a hell of a lot quicker than we were expecting; we know how lucky we are.

Iris Mary arrived yesterday at 1535, weighing in at 9lb 11oz. I delivered her in our bathroom at home whilst we were trying to get ready for the hospital. Mum and baby fine, it was the most terrifying and exciting day of my life!
