Registered 15 years agoThanks, I have an old sim card that's still in contract that I had for my Samsung Galaxy so I can use that I guess. -

Registered 17 years agoI just walked passed the Apple store on Regents St. The two geeks queuing for iPad 3 were being berated by a vest-wearing tramp who kept saying: "But it doesn't support flash".
Surreal. -

The tramp was probably someone from this forum. I forget who, though.

They've been there since the announcement.
Queuing? Now?
Jesus.
I dread to think what they will actually do when they get their new iPad home.

When the first LotR was a few weeks from premiere day elvish tent camps popped up in all (three) major swedish cities. In Malmö the police went in there like Orcs and sent the larpers packing.
In Stockholm some numb nut decided it was ok to put up a tent if you were cuing for a film. Cue (heh) homeless people waiting in line for films that were 6-7 months off. -

Registered 17 years agoWell John Lewis (Reading) just emailed me to say they are selling the new ipad from store opening at 9:30am and have not been told otherwise.
Anyone else in Reading going down Friday to buy one? I'm thinking of walking in to town around 6am just to be on the safe side to get the version I want. I only have to wake up 1 hour earlier than usual so no biggie.
It will be interesting to see how it goes down this year as there is now a big Apple store nearby. I suspect less iPads and less people waiting around.
I was with the legend KayJay forumite last year from about 9am until 5pm. We could have turned up at 4pm and got what we wanted but hey is was good to get to know him.

Why do people queue when you can preorder? Will never get that.

Registered 19 years agoThey either booked a week off work to queue - in the cold - for an iPad, or they're unemployed which begs the question as to how they can afford an iPad in the first place. -
People have been outside the one in covent garden since Monday. -

Is that not the same guy who was first in line for a Vita?
Two of my hired students in place Send me your bids by ways of PM. You get one shot each. Highest bidder wins. It will be a closed bid.

In fairness to these people - as fucking mental as they are - there are very few excuses presented in life to legitimately camp out in the middle of a busy town centre without risking the nick for an illegal protest. Wouldn't do it myself but I'm sure there is more to it than just being the first in line. And being mental. -

Registered 16 years agoClever. Hes playing the long game. Picked up a Vita purely so he had something to do during his week long queue for an iPad.
But what did he do to occupy himself during the Vita queue?
/digs out various 'first in queue' pictures of the last year -

Fair play to him if that's what he enjoys doing. -

Registered 15 years agoIsn't he the guy with "carers"? I'm sure that was mentioned at the Vita launch. Mentally deficient or something. -

Anyone getting one tomorrow? Will be another 2 weeks before my pre-order goes through
getting the 16GB one, worried that the space would be a bit lacking (especially since the apps will be a bit bigger for the bigger resolution)
Guess juggling apps and videos wouldn't be too bad -

Registered 15 years agoIt was a toss up for me with the 2 & 3 and I went for the 2 at £329.
I just didn't think the 3 was worth the extra cost. I must say I love the 2, the screen is amazing and speed etc is great. More than what I need.
I have the 16GB version and I don't have an issue juggling apps and stuff. Quite easy to do, I've never been in a situation where I need to carry more than say 10GB at one time without having the chance to get to my laptop and rotate over stuff that I need. -

Registered 18 years ago64gb wifi due tomorrow. Got a minor jolt this morning when the Syncreon website showed OUT FOR DELIVERY at 708am but it transpires they're being to delivered to UKMail, who'll deliver it the final mile tomorrow.
90% of usage on my old iPad was reading, the screen upgrade is the one thing I've been waiting for since getting an iPhone4. Noticed quite a few app updates coming down the line allowing for the screen, hopefully Reeder will follow shortly, if it hasn't already. That, and Safari, were pretty much my most dominant app previously, along with Downcast for podcasts. -

Moi. 64GB 3G version which is what I had before. I would have been fine with #2 being 32GB however I'm worried with the new screen videos and other content will be larger in file size.
