Just bought two vita games from gamestation, one was unsealed the other says on a sticker on the back of the sellophane 'property of Sony computer entertainment not to be removed until point of purchase by consumer' Certainly never seen that on a game before. Looks like Game/Gamestation got their vita games 'on tick' so as to ensure the vita launch wasn't a flop, but Sony doesn't trust them as far as they can throw them. The end is nigh |

Registered 18 years agoSame here in Game, with the memory card and the Vita itself too. The stickers aren't on the two games I got through Amazon. An interesting development.
They did have Ubisoft games in my store though.

That Game can't run on credit anymore so they've had to enter special deals with Sony in order to purchase stock, this labeling presumably being a term of said deal. That's about it, really.
Hmm interesting, what could this mean? -

Registered 13 years agoIt means theyve got them on credit, and Sony want them back, unopened when GAME inevitably cant pay for them -
Be nice to get a sealed game from these guys, instead of the usual pube infested trade in they pass off as a new game. -

Registered 12 years agoIt probably relates to something called "Retention of title". Essentially this means that Sony has an agreement with GAME/station to ensure that if they go into administration, any stock that is unsold (that hasnt been paid for) remains the property of Sony and they can reclaim the stock.
Loads of publishers got stung massively when EUK/Woolworths went into admin. EUK had loads of stock they hadn't pay for that publishers couldnt get back.
If anything its a good thing. If Sony can keep supplying GAME under these more secure conditions, its good got both parties. -

Registered 15 years agoWow... that's crazy. Things must be really, really bad at Game.
I was under the impression they had refinanced their debt so should be ok but it doesn't seem like it. -

HMV isn't particularly healthy either.

Exact same at HMV, thought it was a bit unusual.
