Anyone tried this free to play game on Steam? It is probably the most brutal MMO I think I've ever played. Your character has 1 life and if they die, that's it, dead as a doornail but the higher level they get before they die and the more dungeons you do, the higher your fame becomes. At the start you can only make a wizard but get that character to level 5 and you can then play as a priest and so on. The Later classes require you to get characters to level 20, which is a daunting task in itself. Controls are the standard WASD keys to move about and left click to shoot, that's it, simple but by heck is it hard. |

Registered 17 years agoIt is pretty good fun. I'd describe it as an MMO Roguelike. Quick, painful and with almost no instructions but definatly worth a bash.
If you're on the fence consider three things.
1) It's free
2) There's no long signup or character creation (It uses your steam ID if you want)
3) It weighs in at 39Mb -

Registered 12 years agoHighest level I've so far achieved is a level 12 wizard and I'm pretty reluctant to push too far towards the center, especially solo. -

Registered 16 years agoIt's a good laugh, I'd recommend it. Never really got far but it's my favorite twin-stick in recent memory.
Music's pretty good too.
The web version's at realmofthemadgod.com and there's another one (well, same one but you know what I mean) on Kongregate. -

Registered 17 years agoYesterday's review mentioned that you can use a joypad - yet I can't find the option anywhere.
Can someone let me know where I should look? -

Registered 19 years agoI too would love a joypad option but i don't think it is possible without using third party software. -
Yeah, I've only ever seen mouse n' keyboard. Which is fair enough, tbh - works well enough that way. -

Registered 14 years ago@mingster I tried this without much success due the mouse pointer aiming which I couldn't map to a right stick. Made it a bit better with stick movement and mouse aiming but not ideal. Really is crying out for proper pad support.
All ears if anyone manages to map controls better than me! -

Registered 10 years agoI enjoyed my brief game of this I played. I remember me and few friends had managed surround ourselves with huge horde of players and if you stayed in the center of the group you couldn't really die, you just had to keep up with the group. One of the guys had got to level 20 and wanted to die so he could start over, but the entire group just kept following him around and killing anything that tried to defeat him. After a while there was only a few of us protecting the guy and he kept trying to escape us but we just kept following him. I think eventually we decided to let the guy pass on but it's such a neat simple little game, and totally free, they could have easily charged for it. -
Agreed, it's such a quality game I may buy an extra character slot or something just to back the devs a bit.
