Registered 17 years agoUnrelated: I had some drinks on the Southbank earlier and ended up going home via London Bridge. She did that big fuk off tower come from all of a sudden*!?
I though skyscrapers weren't allowed on London's skyline?
*ok, haven't been in London in a few years, so not all that sudden I guess. -

Registered 20 years agoLondon Bridge is south of the river, don'tcha know, so no one cares what you build there. It's called the shard by the way, and they've been building it for a while now (since before I noticed the Electric Shaver going up in Elephant & Castle as it happens) but they look to be getting close to topping it off now.
Hope you guys have fun tomorrow. I'm insanely jealous that I can't be there.
Edit: Also jeleaous apparently

As long as you don't obstruct the view of St. Paul's Cathedral from a number of locations it's fair game IIRC. Probably still tougher to get planning permission than a lot of other big cities though.

Registered 20 years agoThe irony is that in practice, you can't really see the dome of St Pauls until you're almost on top of it from ground level any more (though that's primarily down to the moderately tall buildings surrounding it rather than the skyscrapers some miles away) -

Registered 20 years agoAye, oh and apologies for getting quite tipsy rather quickly. 3 G&T's seem to be my limit. -
I apologise for banging on about politics quite so much! At least it's better than me moaning about work. -

Registered 20 years agoIndeed, but I reckon it would make it less special if we met up more frequently.
But then again it's been a couple years since we had the Eurogamer Spring meet. it would have usually been around this time too. -

I'm impressed by how well I managed to hide in that shot. All you can see is my beer.
Can't believe four years have snuck behind me like that.
Burger King still serve beanburgers, but they are no longer on their price lists, so I'm wondering if they're phasing them out. Shame, they taste so much better than their meat burgers.
