Registered 14 years ago@shamblemonkee You going to see them on their tour in May? The Cast of Cheers, who are one of my favourite bands, are supporting. Not sure who I'm more excited to see.

I know most of those lads, went to school with a couple of them. Knew they were in England at the minute and they're pretty popular here but didn't think anyone overseas would have known them! -

Someone on another forum linked to their album on Bandcamp, and it was free so I gave it a download. Was very pleasantly surprised.

Registered 14 years agoSince signed to a label and it's no longer legitimately available for free, I believe the label are planning something for it.
They will be playing pretty much all new stuff at the gig though, they've pretty much got the 2nd album in the can, haven't released it, but thats the material they're touring afaik -

Registered 19 years agoTits by Sparks. Actually, currenly Propaganda by Sparks which is a much better album than Indescreet. Such a shame the band was around almost thirty years - it'd have been fucking awsome here today.
TBH I believe this happens with Sparks every few years, since no-one other than the fans remember they did these albums, and are still around today (though to be fair I've found nothing as good as Propoaganda and Kimono my House, so if you've those I'd not recommend any others. At least until I've bought them all and can tell you if any are good. So far, Lil Beethoven hasn't been all that, but I get the impression it's a band that likes to take the piss out of everything, inclusing their own fans. More power to them. -

Rapidly turning into one of my fave pop punk records (sorry, "Melodic Hardcore"!) ever.

I was just looking at this and it said "download" and I can't! I listen to most music on my iPod, I hate how a lot of pre-release songs are only available to stream now.

Registered 14 years agoIt hopefully won't be as bad as when I went to see WWPJ there in December, everyone was clapping totally out of time and singing very loudly out of tune. And it was full of children. All gigs should be 18+. Of course, a few years ago I thought the opposite, but I can see the appeal so much now. -
I don't really have much of a problem with that, it's all part of the fun! I haven't been to a gig in forever. I can never be bothered buying the tickets and some good-sounding gigs have passed me by.
As for what I've been listening to, the new Cloud Nothings album has been receiving some play. It's a mixed bag, but shows some real promise. Songs like No Future/No Past are pushing the envelope for them, while Fall In sounds like naff Green Day-esque pop-punk. The vocals are occasionally cringe-worthy as well. Unfortunately, when there's only eight songs it's a bit of a cause for concern when there's one or two you don't like. I'd say it's worth a punt though and is going cheap on the MP3 stores (fiver on iTunes and Amazon).
