I think there's definitely enough room for another music video TV channel in 2019.

It might be just old man nostalgia, but the new chemical brothers album (made with the analogue equipment they made the early stuff with) seems pretty banging. It's got my kids moving anyway.

@monkman76 It's a great album! The quality is consistent throughout, which is something 4 of their last 5 albums failed to achieve (Further being the other consistent one).

The new SUNN O))) album Life Metal

It's a lot closer to the pure drone of the Grimmrobe Demos than the more orchestrated stuff on Monoliths & Dimensions or the Scott Walker album

    https://sunn.bandcamp.com/album/life-metal

A slightly sharper edge perhaps and still as transcendent as ever when you lose yourself in it

Indeed. I absolutely love the 80's vibe off them. So many great tracks across their albums that I've listened to so far.

"He is" and "Dance Macabre" are stuck in my head.

I've somehow never heard a note of Ghost (ghost note, drummer joke, eh, eh) - what's the buzz?

Campy 80s cheese metal as catchy as an SYD?
Pretty much. It's more rock than metal, though.

The earlier stuff has a more 70s vibe but they've really taken off since getting those big 80s hooks in

    New Bad Religion album.

It's basically another Bad Religion album, doesn't really differ from their usual melodic punk rock template, but it's better than, and has more urgency than, their last couple of albums

A couple of tracks feel like filler, and it's not going to topple their classic albums, but I've enjoyed it enough to listen on repeat, which is more than can be said for True North and The Dissent of Man, both of which left me feeling meh.

    The Cranberries: In the end
Wonderful goodbye to Dolores O'Riordan. Album was put together from her demo's and the band completing them. They have done a brilliant job, and D.O. was on fine form with the lyrics and vocally.

    Brilliant.

Fallen in love with Big Thief, in particular U. F. O. F

If you like your folk strange, tender and beautiful then give it a spin.

Also digging Father Of The Bride by Vampire Weekend right now and The National's new one drops today so I'll be sure to give that a listen.

Noticed a lot of the bands that I was listening to at 13/14 are now posting on their social media feeds 20th anniversary celebration posts of those albums. Make yourself and Soft Bulletin this week alone. Fuck i'm old.

    New National album.

Not sure about it, singer seems content to sing the same melodies.

May grow on me but still think they peaked a couple of albums back.

Needing an electric guitar has taken over my life and a Youtube trawl ended up taking me to early Verve stuff.

Nick McCabe is a fucking genius. It's just a shame that they had indie-pound-shop Jim Morrison as a fucking singer, shitting over everything.

    Oh Sees: Orc.
A damn fine rock/prog album. Saw them last night at the Albert Hall in Manchester, fantastic live band as well.

    Lindemann - Skills in Pills

Doesn't offer anything new but it still trucks along quite nicely. Lyrically there's nothing challenging about it, and while nearly all the songs seem to be written for shock factor it's all quite clumsy, bordering on comical. Enjoyable enough in the background, but you likely won't remember much about it once it's finished playing.
