What's up with that? Can't wait. The character looks turned down a bit for the year old trailers.

Saw the trailer for this before Aquaman and I am not too familiar with the source material but it didn't look appealing particularly with the CG face...

@Bichii had just woken up in especially sarky bastard mode.

Now I read some of this comic back in the nineties, the only reason the girl had those big eyes was simply the art style, why on earth have they carried that over to the film, she looks just plain weird, very off putting :(

Anyone who has got Odeon Limitless, they are doing preview screenings on 4th Feb.

    Linky

Edit: I suspect Cineworld is doing something similar.

I got preview tickets here for the 5th. IMAX, with a friend that has never done IMAX before, so regardless of the film quality it should be a pretty cool experience.

Reviews are starting to come in. They are...mostly not good. Incredible special effects but poor story and sharp shifts in tone.

Still looking forward to it. Going to a free screening on Monday night.

On the plus side, maybe we're finally getting past the comic book hero fad, I've been sick of the sub-genre for a long, long time.

If the new trend is to cannibalise anime, I can't see it lasting long they just can't seem to make it work, becoming the breakout hit like Spider Man in the early 2000s. Death Note turned out poo, Ghost in the Shell didn't seem to excite people, they're still threatening to adapt Akira.

After that, who knows? Maybe they'll try to exploit internet memes. Son I am Disappoint: The Movie. A Netflix How is Babby Formed TV series.

Why do you just watch any film regardless of reviews?

If they're all saying it's 'not good' why waste your money?

he's got an Odeon Unlimited card, it costs him more to NOT see them.

Well, why waste your time then I suppose? I really hate seeing bad films at the cinema, feels like such a waste of an evening.

Because I don't always agree with what critics say. Simple as that. I may love it. Got to decide for myself.

Edit: I thought The Favourite was just above average. I really enjoyed Beverly Hills Cop 2. Etc.

Saw it last night for free at Braehead in IMAX 3d and was blown away by it

Think it helped that i went in without much knowledge of the manga and not seeing too many trailers for it or reading up on it

I enjoyed it for what it was - non stop action & well told story of Alita discovering who she is; I don't really get the negativity about it as all 4 of our group loved it

Just seen it. In terms of visual spectacle and action, itís absolutely stunning. Plot is all over the place as is the tone.

Wow, surprised to see positive vibes for this movie. First I heard of it was the other day when I saw an ad on telly. I thought it was probably a low budget flick with a high marketing budget or something.

Saw it last night. Agree with this completely. Rodriguez is so hit and miss, and I donít think the casting works brilliantly in this.

Aliya herself looks great, and the action scenes are pretty spectacular.

Just seen it myself, totally agree with above. Looks amazing, but plot was naff.

It's not the story itself that's the problem, it's the execution in the film. Maybe it was written better in the books, or maybe it just works better on the page where you naturally pace the panels yourself as you process the information on the page.

    In the film, it's naff.

Her overall arc is fine, it's all the stuff with her "family" and love interest that's all poorly done. And the casting in general.

In fact the more I think about it the more criticisms I have, so I'll just bow out.

@Zokarr I've not read the manga but I've seen the OAV anime. How does it compare to that?
