There seems to be a recurring theme with self published books on Amazon that they are all some part of a "chronicle", is this just a marketing technique or what? Seems to happen a lot. |

Registered 10 years agoNo idea. Mine is a series of books, Chronicle seemed like the best word to use to describe them as they go through the main character's life. -

Just saw this and bought it. Enjoyed the first a lot and looking forward to the read.
My second book, Born of Hatred, was published today. I'm currently excited, nervous and bricking it, all at the same time.

There are physical copes on amazon, but because they're through createspace they're quite expensive. -

Also, I'm off to London Book Fair this Monday. I've never gone before, so I don't really know what to expect, but I'm looking forward to it. -

Registered 10 years agoOkay, today I've posted a blog about when book 3, With Silent Screams will be released. As I've just signed a 3 book deal with 47North. There's also a chance for someone to win a Kindle Paperwhite.

I'm hoping to get mine ready for publishing by end of the year. Did you try publishers before going for kindle store out of interest? -

I'm about half way through a thing. I kinda want to put it on kindle at some point.
Is it worth it? Anyone got any sales figures they'd like to share? I think I would be crushed if it didn't sell a million. -

Registered 10 years ago@CosmicFuzz I did try publishers first, yeah. I went for an agent and got nowhere apart from a few 'thanks very much', and 'it's good, but not for us at this time', replies.
It's kinda weird that after all that, it was a publisher who sought me out. And it's happening more and more with people who publish independently.
End of the year is a good time, a lot of people have big sales then. My only advise (not that you asked for it), is to get a good cover, a good editor and if you can afford it, pay for a blog tour (you can do it yourself, but it's a huge ball ache).
Thanks very much, it's been a weird few months knowing it's all happening. And good luck on your book. Post a link on Eurogamer when you've done it. -

Registered 10 years ago@RichieTenenbaum I did a blog post on them back in March.
http://stevejmchugh.wordpress.com/2013/03/21/fun-with-maths/
Quick answer, I'd sold 22,000 copies of both books combined since I published book 1 last April. 10,000 of those from Jan to March this year.
I'm at a point where I could write fulltime by the end of the year. Which is a dream come true for me. -

Registered 10 years agoAs it's been a while since I posted anything in here, I thought I'd update the few of you who might be interested in how things are going.
Well, books 1 and 2 were re-published in Sept and since then they've gone on to be number 1 in 4 genres in several countries. I've broken into the top 100 best selling books in USA and Canada, so the Hellequin Chronicles is now considered a bestselling series, which makes me a bestselling author. Which is, as you might guess, pretty damn great.
I have a novella coming out in a few weeks, so I've been working on that and getting book 3's launch ready for Feb next year. It's all a bit mad to be honest, especially with having a fulltime job and trying to write books. But then everyone who writes dreams of the day they can do it for a living.
If you're interested in the Novella, I'll past the link to my blog with info about it. http://stevejmchugh.wordpress.com/2013/11/15/infamous-reign/
That's pretty much it for me at the moment. I recently tried to get an agent, which is still not exactly an easy proposition, so I may continue trying or just give up for the moment. -
