No-one is saying actual book books are awful, but the convinience of the Kindle trumps everything in my opinion. On price, portability, ease of reading. I can't stand up on the tube and read a book with one hand, I can with the Kindle. |

Can you read a kindle in the bath? Doesn't sound too safe.
/slippers and pipe -
Well seeing as I end up getting books soaking wet and the pages all crinkly, and how light the Kindle is and easy it is to hold with just one hand, i'd say it's probably safer to use it in the bath than a book
-
I am with you IL. My gf has a kindle and prefers books. -

Kindle is the only device to have converted me to digital over physical. I used to love collecting books, have hundreds but the convenience and superior experience of the kindle just trumps them. I now want all books via kindle, even if I see them dirt cheap in a charity shop. Unless it is a standard toilet book, they need to be physical! -

Registered 14 years agoI tend to read a mixture of both kindle and 'normal books', in fact the only reason I didn't offer a paperback from the off was because of the cost.
But, as quite a few people have asked for one, I figured I might as well provide. -

Registered 20 years agoThe kindle's great for reading documents that would otherwise have to be hauled around in a big pile of printouts, or need a laptop to read.
Reading for pleasure though, I'm physical books all the way. I love the smell, the tactile experience, the length of the line (too short on Kindle unless you have the eyesight to cope with tiny fonts), the dog-ears and the spine-breaking, the bookshelves, the covers and frankly, I trust books more. I have books in my room that I've had for thirty odd years and I have books that are over a hundred years old - I just don't trust digital media to stick around so reliably. -

Oh god, audiobooks are bad enough, the spoken mode on Kindle's terrible! :-D

It has been a lot of hard work, but this week has been insane amounts of work. I actually want to be able to get back to writing soon, because I have no time at the moment. -
You can't see in that review at all the scars on my back where steve held me down, whipped me and gouged the review on my chest with a blunt knife shouting TYPE IT BITCH! -

Registered 14 years agoThanks, mate.
It has been exhausting, but the surprising thing is that so many people have asked for a paperback and are still interested when I tell them that it's gonna be about £13 a book. -

Registered 16 years ago£13 sounds really expensive for the paperback? Mine has come out at £8:50 although I've cut my margin to the bone for that.

Registered 14 years agoI've got it down to 11 by changing the formatting slightly. But it's still 400+ pages, and I've put it to the lowest I can put it. Hopefully I can think of something before it comes out. -
If I buy the paper copy for posterity when you become world famous, you have to sign it

Mine is only 300 pages, so I guess that's the why. (I assume you used the 'US Trade' page size, which is the cheapest?)

Registered 14 years agoI did, yeah. Although as of yesterday Createspace have said they'll ship to Eu/UK with no extra cost, so I'm going to have a look and see how it works out there.
For those who have read the book, I wrote a flashfriday prequel for a friend of mine a few weeks back, and posted it on my blog yesterday.
