Just got my code for It, so maybe still time dude :).

Planning on playing on PS4 eventually with this as none of my mates are really PC gamers but I'm looking forward to another go to test stuff out and see what it's like the further you get in.

So by the copious amounts of tumbleweed drifting through the thread can I assume that the first beta has turned people off?

I will be on tomorrow if anyone wants to group up or whatnot.

Is this still in NDA? I know Wildstar beta is being streamed on Twitch regularly and that comes out at a later date I think.

I've got a key and will give it a quick try at some point over the weekend (although it looks a bit rubbish)

Do you guys play on a particular server?

    @Dizzy
I've only got a 250Gb SSD and it's nearly full already. Going to make some space as I do want to try it.

One good point about this game is that it is one of the few MMOs that has a well-written Mac client (the only other one that comes to mind is World of Warcraft). Both Eve Online and Guild Wars 2 uses Transgaming, a version of WINE that emulates Windows (and rather badly at that).
Last Beta only the Windows client was ready, but for this one, the Mac client is also available.

I've just spent 24 hours downloading the Beta, only to be told I have to wait 1 hour 45 minutes to get in a server... oh well, t least people are still playing it I suppose. No idea why, many places have utterly slagged it but I read on that says the game opens up after the awful first area (which is what everyone played) and becomes a proper open world with group events etc, so I'll give it a bash.

Already though Im not a huge fan of the graphics. In trying to emulate Skyrim they've managed to make a grey and brown looking utterly generic world, because they obvioulsy cant emulate the graphics of Skyrim. Of course, it may get a whole lot better but I'll tell you now, it'll need to blow my mind for me to lay out 60 quid then 8 quid a month when I've got Guild Wars 2 sat there.

So... played an hour of it... the graphics are better than I thought, although they dont quite seem to be 60fps on my 670GTX with the auto detect, still, they're pretty nice. The combat though, oh the combat, its just shit. Theres a delay on the hit while the server detects your hit so it doesnt make the game feel like the first person games its trying to emulate, the enemies dont move or attack until you're pretty close (yes, its a beta but still). I was an archer and you cant fire your arrows from a decent distance, maybe you can upgrade this later on but I didn't see an option and it just feels stupid and crappy, you're firing an arrow from 15 feet away and its not registering.
Possible the worst thing though is the huge hit boxes, you can aim right to to the left or right, clearly missing an enemy and it'll still him them. That can probably be sorted but.

It just feels like every other MMORPG except it really doesn't work because you're so used to the mechanics of Skyrim etc and its like playing some other game with a Skyrim skin on it. Whats the point of making it first person by fefault when it plays nothing like the rest of the series? It's to try and con you that you're playing something you're not.

All I can say for it is the production values look pretty much top notch but the mechanics have killed it for me, whats the point in playing this when Guild Wars 2 plays better, has a less generic set of areas and is subscription free? No thanks.

I've not left the island as I've seen enough to know I like it, so want to keep the rest fresh. I was a bit worried that it would just be another mmo in an elder scrolls skin, jumping everywhere :)
It is. its either an extremely stripped down Elder Scrolls game with delayed combat, or a generic MMORPG with an Elder Scrolls skin. I'll let you decide. Either way I don't want to play it.

It has the presentation nailed, it feels a lot more like a premium game than any other MMO I've played, but thats just a thin facade to hide a very generic game. Of course, you really cant judge a game like that in such a limited time, it could be amazing from there on in. But for something that wants 550/60 quid PLUS a monthly subscription I'd hope and expect to be pulled right in. Its just the generic MMO combat that I've played a million times before that has bored me mainly, I was hoping for something a bit different. Still, each to their own.

I got to play it a bit and tbh it's made me want to get back on Warcraft for a month or 2, it just not grabbing me and seems a bit boring. I think I invested too much in wow to start another mmo, not been on wow for over a year either.

    Yeah for me, its poor.

If I want an MMO, I will just go back to WoW. Nothing at all tempted me with this tbh. It's just yet another company looking at wow and throwing a franchise behind a paywall and hoping to cash in.

Problem is they are about 5 years too late with this type of MMO.

Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim, all with mods, will forever sate my appetite for Elder scrolls stuff.

@INSOMANiAC That is pretty much what I thought.I have Guild Wars 2 sitting there when I need my MMO fix.Which hasn't been for a month now.
So ESO would really have to knock my socks off to go down that road, and have to pay for it monthly to.

It just never lit any of my fires in the beta play.I remember GW2 beta I could not put that down. This, I took off the pc after two hours.Just thought I was wasting my time.
