I'm keeping very low expectations of this just to be safe. -

Yeah, he's gone all a bit giggly as he's in the Secret Alpha Club, but it gives me some hope. I'll try not to get too enthusiastic.

It reminds me of some of the good aspects of Warhammer Online. Although in retrospect that was a pretty flawed game, I enjoyed the public group questing and some of the open PvP a lot. -

Registered 15 years agoSigned up for the beta. Never played a MMORPG before so my chances of getting in are probably slim, though. -
I know it's unreasonable, but I basically want Oblivion with other people running about, clunky combat and all. Don't get me wrong, it wouldn't sell because it wouldn't be good, plus without further research I'd be willing to bet someone has already made a multiplayer mod for PC.
I'd still give it a go though, I just hope it feels like Elder Scrolls. -
Doesn't look good tbh. -

I'm not sure what comes next for MMOs, but this isn't it.
There is such huge and exciting potential for MMORPGs now that we have faster internet connections and more powerful computers, but to realise that potential someone needs to seriously rethink the game mechanics of these things. Any pitch that starts off "It's WoW but..." needs to be ditched. -

Registered 8 years agoErm, is it me, or does that video look like some 90's digitized shite, ala 7th guest?
I've not had a chance to watch it yet, just looking at the image on the above link so can't tell -

Nearly a year later and I was wrong, they look really, really shit.
Those graphics look a bit, er, shit.
I can see this cratering worse than SWTOR. -

Yeah this is over before it starts. The Theme Park MMO is dead.

MMOs need to move to sandboxes. -
"from the team that brought you Darkfall"
I would boot this up to be disinterested within 10 minutes. -
Darkfall? OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY! -

Ye gods, it's just the same as wow/anything else. I hate the combat where you've got a limited amount of time before they close on you and then it's just trading blows
No idea what I'd come up with to make it more innovative, but so far, no deal for me -

How many times can these dev's keeping running into the same wall before they figure out what is happening? -

Forbes.com - Predicting the Biggest Video Game Disaster of 2014: The Elder Scrolls Online.
tl;dr - It has the budget of $200 million, the same as The Old Republic. Look how well TOR did! Also, only loonies pay monthly subscriptions for MMORPGs any more.

Being the first next gen console ES game will give it a boost the TOR never had. It's the first big console western MMO, so unchartered territory. Might actually do ok.
