Because: -petitions never work -that link is essentially advertising to firms to hire them for translation work Given that Sega killed their in-house translation teams earlier in the year, it needs a small miracle and another publisher to see Y5 in the West. I'm not holding out much hope. |

I gave up on 4 after my PS3 went tits up. I have a new PS3 now, but can't be bothered to start from scratch. I loved the detail, the fighting, but there seemed at times way to much talking. I played 3 on the PS2, got as far as the funeral, and reached a point i couldn't fight my way out of, due to to lo energy.
Yakuza 4 is brilliant, superb characters, entertaining story, hugely atmospheric and combat is a blast. It can be picked up for buttons, definitely a must to at least try it IMO.
Maybe I should give 5 ago. I've just completed Sleeping Dogs, and that was a blast. I kept thinking, imagine how good Sleeping Dogs could have been if it contained the same level of detail as Yakuza, and the code that runs the cars during GTA IV - dream on..

Registered 15 years ago@Armoured_Bear - I guess localising Yakuza 5 is a massive job. I'm still hoping it might happen.
I'm off to Japan in October, and if no solid news has surfaced by then I'm tempted to pick up both Yakuza 5 and Ishin. I just have my fingers crossed it doesn't come to that, because I can't read a word of Japanese.

Ahem.
See ? This is what happens when I'm busy dealing with trains full of drunks, I miss an announcement that gives me something to look forward to. I only worry how much they may cut ala Y3......
What ?
Sega have regained some cred with this and the VC release, but I'm still sceptical. -

Never played a yakuza game. I recently bought another ps3 as well as I did miss a lot of the games I had on digital. -
@FishCanSwim
Yeah I've always liked the look of them but for some reason never bought one. I might have to try yakuza 4 out. -
Mmmm yakuza 4 is $19.99 on psn store. Is it worth a punt then? -

Registered 15 years agoIt's the more 'complete' experience of the 2 mainline games currently available in English (and I don't think Y3 is available digitally). I haven't played it yet as only up to 3 in my current chronological playthrough

Thing is with never playing any of them before will I be totally lost by the past story etc. -

Registered 16 years agoYakuza 4 was the first one I had ever played and it was simple enough to pick up. You'll probably spend most of your time trying to woo hostesses any way...

It's the only one I've played and was fine standalone. -
Is dead souls any good as well? See really mixed reviews for that. Most user reviews seem to like it. -
Think I'll get yakuza 4 then. Looks great fun from the video reviews -

Yakuza 4 has brief story recaps of the first three games, so if you watch those you'll be fine. Continuity is arguably not as important in Yakuza 4 as it was in the previous two games because it introduces three brand new playable characters, each with their own stories. The protagonist of the first three games doesn't appear until later.

@addyb No problem. PM me your details and I'll get it out to you next week!
