@robthehermit Yep. It seems to look worse every time they show it and no one seems to have played a demo. The first Ass Creed was rubbish too. It will still sell well due to hype and marketing. |

Registered 17 years agoAnother game to fall to my pre order cull, I only pre order so much as Amazon tend to have the one day only price drop.
I'm thinking play and enjoy ACIV for a couple of weeks (no real interest in the online side) then chop in for WD on the Nov/Dec swapsies thread

Registered 11 years agoSo it's been delayed. It'll do the game good to have more polish/care but it means one less game One/PS4. Anyone who ordered the Watchdogs PS4 bundle should probably check in with their retailer to see what's happening with that.
Last big delay I remember (apart from GTAV) was Gears of War 3 and that turned out awesome so here's hoping for the same effect (and those initial reveal graphics!) -

Registered 19 years agoI'm glad it was delayed. What they've shown since E3 has looked progressively more bland and boring. It's not exactly a graphical showcase either. Hopefully an extra six months in development will do it the world of good. -

As well as thinking wait a minute guys aren't we also releasing an open world game with a sci-fi bent to it around the same time.
So basically, they saw GTA V and thought 'fuck!'. -

Ubisoft bigged this game up as a GTA killer until they saw GTA. Back to the drawing board.

Given the overall quality of ubisoft games a few months extra polish surely is a good thing. -
So now Amazon have to change the PS4 bundles yet again? They must be over the moon about it. -

Registered 12 years agoYeah I'm a Watch Dogs Amazon pre-orderer. Haven't even recieved the confirmation email for that going through yet and now I'll probably have to go through the faff again. Great. -

Registered 11 years agoAbsolutely gutted by the delay - on the Xbox One launch day, i've got FIFA, Battlefield 4, AC4, Ryse, Dead Rising 3 AND Forza 5 coming.....but this is the one i was looking forward to the most.
Ah well, if it means we get a better game, i wont be upset for too long..... -
It kind of makes the AC4 or Watchdogs decision easy at least.
It's nice to hear to be honest. So many launch games get rushed out. I'd much rather it was delayed and done proper justice to. -
One positive: there's definitely a 3rd party releases for the Wii U in 2014. -

I wouldn't buy more than 3 titles at launch. By the time you get around to more than that you'll either have new games releasing to further contend with or you can look to pick up those you didn't get for cheaper. -

Registered 12 years agoThe question is, why didn't they do this from the outset? Launching AC and WD in the same month seemed daft to me. -

I just hope the delay is to make a good game into a brilliant game.
My worry is that it's currently such a stinker that it's inconceivable that it could even be released in its current state. -

Registered 17 years agoWhy have two of your own games competing with each other? AC is probably a lot more stable and has much more of an interest and in-built fan base. -

Registered 13 years agoI'm guessing they have finished code which scored very poorly on internal "reviews". If it wasn't pretty awful, they'd have released it. The original Assassin's Creed was pretty poor and the performance level was bad too but they released it anyway. -

That's probably close to the truth. Pretty long delay too, they obviously feel like it needs a lot of work, it was supposed to be shipped next month.

Tempted by ACIV, but then I remember how utterly dreadful III was. Knack it is then I guess. -

No really similar situations. Watch Dogs was a launch title and new IP. This delay will hurt sales as they'll get less preorders/impulse buys from early adopters desperate for something different. I hope it's good but I won't be surprised if it's just above average.

Registered 17 years agoOr it'll launch a little after the same launch window as the original AssCreed, in the quiet spell after Xmas and into summer and sell a shitload. Like AssCreed. -

Registered 11 years agoWell, I am a bit dissapointed by the delay as I was looking forward to it at the PS4 launch, but it should sit alongside the other titles due around the same period quite nicely.
Seeing that The Crew has been delayed as well (I didn't even know it had a more specific release schedule than "2014"), I'm wondering if Ubisoft have learnt their mistake from AC3 which definitely could have done with an extra couple of months in development. -

The original Assassin's Creed came out in November 2007, so I'm not sure where you're getting that from. Also, spring 2014 looks pretty packed to me, with things like Infamous, Titanfall, Destiny, Dark Souls 2 and Mario Kart 8 all slated for release around then.

My feelings as well. It looked interesting when it was first announced, but as more was shown and more detail was given, dovetailing with the big downgrade in the graphics it received since launch, it was clear it wasn't going to be the "next big thing" that everyone originally thought it would be.

I can't actually think of anything about the game that isn't in something else already. Other than the laughably hyped-up "real-time realistic air currents!" which, let's face it, no-one's going to notice or give two craps about as it won't effect gameplay.
The best thing I can say about it based on everything I've seen and its presence at the expo is that the water is quite nice. Which says it all really. -

I'd guess it was more that the feel, look and mechanics looks almost like a modern day Assassins Creed. They figured people would only pick one or the other if they released on the same day.
