The PS4 version allows a chronological playthrough.

I really liked Beyond, although it's a little annoying that, as kal said, it kind of devolves into "press the button to continue". The only really successful puzzle section is the embassy party, and even then it's framed as a tutorial rather than an explicit "work out what you need to do". And like most David Cage things, it kind of falls over itself with technology/supernatural crap towards the end (which I guess is where the non-chronological order helps a little).

My playthrough of the PS3 version ended up being extremely irritating due to the constant typewriter-esque disc access noises... Another playthrough without that constantly going on in the background sounds pretty appealing actually!
Add in spruced up visuals and a few extras and you've pretty much sold it to me (...whenever it drops under a tenner)

I would love Cage to do just a straight real world type thing, no sci-fi shite, no supernatural gubbins, no internet coming to life or anything like that. Heavy Rain was close but still had pointless future sci-fi trappings that felt horribly out of place.

Just basically something like the first third of Fahrenheit would be good.

That being said, I'm still looking forward to Detroit.

@Gremmoo hoping the heavy rain is nicely updated graphically. I played through it twice but always fucked up one particular bit getting someone killed

Missed this due to it being so late in the PS3's life that it came out after my PS3 had suicided itself in a blaze of smokey glory.

Will definitely play this to complete the Cage Collection when it's down to impulse buy sorts of prices.

I haven't actually played this only watched a trailer which I found good seems to show a good line up for a story line and character build up of the main character and what she is sent to save the world from an opening of the spiritual realm... it is on the store but I don't know if I should consider it I have mixed feelings

So, on PS4 what's the best way to play, original or remixed??
  • Deleted user 15 January 2017 16:16:57
Original if you've never played it before. It's better framed.

First play through, I'd stick with original. The narrative was designed to be seen that way first time, meaning certain plot points get spoiled if you play it remixed. I'd leave remix for a second play through.

    ok, thanks guys.

Neither, as this game was total arse. Being a fan of Cage's previous two games, this was a muddled story told across multiple time points, that was just a bit shit.

I thought it was pretty fantastic stuff. Without going into spoilers, the systems at play really push it ahead of the other similar games for me. The story is pretty strong, though a tad predictable in places, and really benefits from the non-linear narrative.

There was only one section that I wasn't fully on board with, which you'll probably know once you hit it, as there's a bit of a tonal shift and the overall story grinds to a halt for a while, but even that part was still pretty good.

I've got this! Really pleased to see that people actually seem to enjoy it in this thread - bought it on PS4 with Heavy Rain, which was for my GF. We'll get round to this eventually.
