Muse has a new album "The 2nd Law" coming out in September. Here's a trailer for it, and I'm not amused: I like it until the last bit kicks in... really? REALLY!? DUBSTEP!? Damn it, Muse! |

Registered 16 years agoI'm not worried about the dubstep thing, it's just a trailer, people in the comments section seem to be assuming it's gonna be a whole album of dubstep.
Haven't really liked their last couple of albums anyway, low expectations so I'll probably love this.
On another note - fuckin trailers for albums now?

Registered 12 years agoEh, I'll probably give it a listen but my hopes aren't high. In my mind I have this band filed alongside the likes of Coldplay and Bloc Party as Radiohead-inspired bands left clueless and unsure how to proceed after Kid A came out. -

Registered 14 years agoThat's a rather odd place to put them. They haven't really been Radiohead-y since the first album. -

Registered 12 years agoCome on, Origin of Symmetry is super Radiohead-y. First time I heard Plug in Baby I actually thought it was RH. Anyways, that's their last decent album IMO. Absolution had a couple of nice tracks I guess, but there's only so much bombastic, apocalyptic wailing I can stand. -
The last album was closer to a shit version of Queen (and I hate Queen), this can't possibly be worse than that. -

'Muse do Queen' versus (probably) 'Muse do brostep'. I think it'll be a close-run thing.

Last album was depressingly shit. I'd say that Kate Hudson lass is 'doing a Yoko' on them by this stage.

Registered 11 years agoForgetting the music for a moment, the actual trailer is hilariously shoddy. Looks like something knocked up on The Apprentice.
niteninja would probably like it though, lots of talk about financial markets and energy supplies. -
Yeah, I'm getting bored with their inability to go beyond that shit for the subject of their songs.
It's like listening to someone going on about the same subject for 15 years whilst they're more drunk each time you see them and so are even less interesting and coherent. -

Registered 11 years agoI kinda get the impression it's all down to the singer. I don't know how much the rest are into their conspiracy theories, but he proper loves them. Bit strange. -
I get the impression that for the last 2 albums, possibly 3, the other 2 have just turned up and done what they're told.
This isn't self produced again is it? I'll have some hope for it if not. -
Yeah, Muse stopped being a band and became 'Matt Belamy Inc.' years ago. -

Registered 17 years agoInteresting. I was not too keen on the last album but will be looking out for their new stuff. I do think they try and innovate on each album but I just don't think they were very successful at it last time. I do miss the more guitar based stuff though as they used to come up with some great rifts. -

Actually I rather liked it!
Clearly in the minority, but I have enjoyed each new Muse album more than its predecessors. The Resistance was great, and (imho) worth buying for the Exogenesis Symphony alone.
Hopefully the whole album won't be like the trailer, but I'll definitely be picking it up.
But...
Trailers for albums? WTF? -

Been a Muse fan since 2000, first saw them live in 2001 and have seen them 6 times since in various countries. Going to see them again in the 02 in London in October. Favourite albums in order being OOS, Absolution, Showbiz, Black Holes, Resistance.
I'm happy that they change their style with each album even if their later works have been less enjoyable, but I've a feeling that the new album will be Muse back at their best. Guess we'll find out later this evening

The actual song's only about a minute long! Probably just as well, really. Do wish this Skrillex/Deadmau5 et al 'sound' would go away. -
New song, 'Madness'.
For the first time since Origins of Symmetry, I don't think I'll be buying a new Muse album :/
