Heh, it was actually Okamiden and the original PS2 game I was thinking of when I said that - I managed to entirely delete the Wii release from my brain. Okamiden is a sequel of sorts, but a large part of it is directly taken from the original. I suspect it started out as a port.

Wasn't there a sequel on DS?
Meh. I've already played this twice. Makes you wonder why we haven't had a sequel yet - oh, that's right, because you fired the developers, Capcom. -

Registered 11 years agoIt's a shame Platinum got so hooked on being "wacky". I'm still waiting for them to make something else like this. -

Registered 14 years agoNot really given Bayonetta and Vanquish are both excellent games, Bayonetta especially is bloody brilliant. It may happen to be a bit "out there" but then so is Okami. -

Registered 11 years agoYeah, they're great, but I'd still rather have Okami. -
Because it costs bugger all and is quick to do and generates sales for a game that sold poorly.
It's not rocket science. -
I played the Wii version but the controller got in the way of the game. Shame its not being released on the 360 -

Registered 16 years agoIt depends on whether the code is based on the PS2 or Wii version, they may be using the PS2 version for comparison shots but that doesn't guarantee that they're not using the existing conversion work from the Wii port.
Anything adapted from the Wii port is a no buy, besides the botched graphics and other things, they broke the battle system. -

yeah like people are gonna buy this version when they didn't care for the last two times.
people were begging for a Wii port a few years ago but once it released it didn't do much better than the PS2 version.
what's funny is that Okami all three versions were on the most popular consoles at the time ( PS2, Wii, DS ) and had over 100 million sales yet the games couldn't even break a million combined.

Registered 11 years agoCapcom's infamous bull-shots. Doesn't matter, I'd buy a Nokia 3310 version. -

I guess a lot of people playing the Wii version didn't notice but battles originally required some skill rather than spamming unresponsive enemies with strings of attacks that you don't have much real control over because they're mapped onto a laggy motion control system.
What happened with the Battle System? I never played the PS2 version..
It's telling that in the Wii version field enemies have been toned down, they just sit there and let you hit them. This game originally had a snappy, battle system which required you to outmanoeuvre enemies, dodge attacks etc. In the Wii version you just sit there and spaz the controller to win.
Plus the brush system is actually more difficult with the pointer, via the DualShock I could trigger the exact effect I wanted consistently but via the Wii pointer you fail again and again when trying to draw bombs for instance.

LINKY
Don't think there's a disc release of it outside of Japan I'm afraid.
And yeah the new store is pretty atrocious alright.
