Registered 13 years agoSaw this last night and I really enjoyed it. Liked it much more than most Marvel films. -
Took my seven year old niece to see it and we both absolutely loved it. Just to go back to the Star Wars parallels - there was one point in it The Bottle of Nova Prime - where my hands locked on the armrests and I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. The thought went through my mind, 'Good God! This is like watching Star Wars for the first time!'
Spellbinding stuff. All of the cast nail it and it's a truly warm and funny film.
The 'Star Lord' pay-off is fantastic

How do you feel now, MrTom? Eh?
Some things can be great for comics, but really wouldn't work in film.
I'd be extremely surprised if this works as a film.
(I am guessing "extremely surprised") -

Registered 17 years agoJust to chip in like everyone else, I also absolutely loved this film and can't wait to see it again.
It's visually the richest sci-fi I've seen since the Fifth Element.
I'm a bit baffled though why some peeps didn't love the little dancing Groot at the end. I thought it was absolutely inspired. -

Registered 11 years agoMain thing was it was just a fun film to watch. The opening credits was prefect statement of intent and I loved it.
As for the baddie, just another stepping stone to Thanos or baddie in the sequel. Film had tough job of introducing new 5 characters, getting a bit of back story for all of them, make you like the characters and set up future stories/characters. Tough job and one of the reasons I prefer it over The Avengers.
Also bet someone already has an idea for a dancing baby Groot toy with the soundtrack playing. -

I immediately did a Google search to see if they already existed right after watching the film and was a little disappointed. They'd be crazy not to make them.

Bet one turns up in new Star Wars film
Also good news that Michael Rooker will have a bigger role in the sequel. Youndu is a great character. Just need to add Walton Goggins -

Registered 10 years agoBest Marvel film yet I reckon, either this or winter soldier.
It gets just the right mix of serious and action, and executes both brilliantly! Can't wait for a follow up.
ALSODid anyone notice the being that was with Thanos was the same alien that gave Loki the staff in The Avengers? -

Registered 14 years agoIt is a good film, but after all the positive stories I might have gone in expecting too much. I liked the second half of the movie a bit more than the first. Even though it started out in an interesting manner I found the first hour or so a bit boring (Most jokes were already seen in the trailer, and they really played way to many classic songs, diminishing their effect for my taste in that section of the movie). The second half was much better, and I can see the parralels with Star Wars there (also with the multiple battles going on at the same time). -

He's called The Other (god knows why?) and he was with Thanos in the Avengers too. That's pretty much the point of it.

Registered 8 years agoWow!
Went to see this earlier this morning with my 7 yr old son and loved every minute of it.
I knew there was supposed to be comedy elements in it, but feck me!, Dave Bautista was fantastic, and his tone mixed in with his character was spot on to get the gags rolling.
One favorite scene being where the rest of the team are belittling Drax and hailing him as dumb, then Gomora says something about everything going over Drax's head, to which Drax replies "Nothing goes over my head!. My reactions are too good, so I will catch them!"
My son was looking at me blankly but I was crying with laughter at the delivery. That's another thing I liked, it was adult enough but still managed to have plenty of visual gags for the kids.
Truth be told, I enjoyed it a hell of a lot more than my son did, but he said he wants to come with me to see the next one, and that makes me a very happy dad indeed!! -

Anyone else notice the wording of the letter Peter gets from his mum doesn't match the voice-over. No doubt they'll fix that for the DVD release.
