Hah. It's not a scam (it almost was, they had pretty much run out of money until recently), but it is a piece of shit. The complaints racking up about its shoddiness are very amusing. Wi-Fi issues, the controllers are crap, the box overheats...
Don't you dare say something good about it! PearsOfAnguish won't have anything else to do with his life if it turns out this thing he has no intention of buying isn't ; a scam, a piece of shit, a rip off.
Bless him.
Also interesting that everyone is using it for emulation or sideloading other Android apps. Their business plan relies on making 30% from software sales, but that's not going to happen if you're just playing SNES games. So far the conversion rate for developers appears to be well under 1%.

You can do that on the 360 with the official SWOS XBLA title!
Any news on Amiga emulation?
If I can play Sensible World of Soccer with a smooth frame rate then I'll be all over this.
I managed to get SWOS working ok on the Cannoo (after overclocking it) but it still wasn't perfect. -
Once again - you lot are aware, aren't you, that a £35 Android stick from China works brilliantly as an emulation box, right? Full access to the Google Play store & all your existing purchases, too, unlike the Ouya.
Mouse, keyboard control as standard on Android 4.1 upwards, PS3 DS3s which work natively over USB (and incidentally charge the pad), hell, even the USB Competition Pro I bought a few years back.
And yes, there are two (free) Android Amiga emulators which come to mind. One of them supports AGA & A1200 emulation. -

@mrpon Ouya doesn't have the monopoly on ethernet. They're just a rebadged, more expensive generic Android box with terrible controllers & Google Play access removed. -

Registered 17 years agoNo, it's not supported. You can try sideloading the APK but it doesn't sound like that's been too successful so far, and there may be issues with DRM on apps you've purchased. -
@Deckard1 They have their own store where they take a cut, that's part of their business model. Fortunately quite a few Android games & apps already support hardware controllers so they don't need that 'filter' for them to work. -

Registered 15 years agoNever said they did Retroid, just explaining why your £35 stick wasn't for me. Fortunately, I have all the apps as apks so the lack of Google Play isn't an issue for me.
YMMV

@mrpon I know, I know .gif)
Incidentally: Box with ethernet found after a quick Google. -
Just pointing out that there are cheaper & easier alternatives if people just want Android on their telly. -
