And this will of course see the light of day, and bit it will also die an embarrassing death soon after. It's a nice idea but I have a pc and phone for these types of games, I don't need nor want another box under my tv to play these types of games. -

I should apply that skill to something like substance abuse. I could make a fortune!

Yup, that's another thing dark has ruined for me.

Nah just pretty hyped for it. As I said, anything that disrupts the current status quo of closed systems ruled by big corporations has to be a good thing.

How many people have a sub-£100 pc with respectable graphics capability (from a mass market POV) connected to their living room tv with a gamepad and download their games outside of heavyweight giants like Steam?

There's only so many stories you can read about the approval process on home consoles for indie devs, or ridiculous common sense fails like the EDGE vs Langdell thing, before you have to accept that yes, there are some pretty blatant roadblocks in getting an indie game out to mass market without heavy investment.
Yeah it's been really hard for indie devs to get their games out there. -

Yeah that's where I started... until I realised that actually that niche that you obliquely reference there probably doesn't really exist; at least in any easily reachable/marketable quantity. I suppose that the proof will be in the games that are on offer and I very much do take to heart the fact that this is a platform that doesn't have the shackles that things like XBLA and PSN have, but I still strongly suspect that this will end up a niche product for those hardcore gamers 'in the know'. Happy to be proven wrong but for those reasons, for the time being, I'm out.

Does anyone else sea everything priced at 99 p with no idea of length or quality, and endless sex games?
Still better than COD. :l -

Interesting read and some good points made.
Apparently also the innards of the "prototype" they show on the kickstarter page look exactly like the inside of a google TV box. -

Registered 14 years agoAfter the pain of the Open Pandora project, I said I would never do this again after waiting three years for that. But I caved, I know can be done with tablets via hdmi and PS3 pads, but I just want a nice simple box that sits under the tv, streams content (i.e. PC network, Netflix, Youtube), plays games alternative games (IOS/Android Games) & emulators.
This'll do nicely, I just hope they do a bang up job and not run into the issues of the Pandora team. -

Yeah, I actually received mine last January and it is an awesome bit of kit but by the time it got to market it was outdated. It is a full Linux laptop the size of a DS.
I think they are still making them but with slightly higher spec than the original. The caveat to this is that they are nearly £400 now rather than the £200 I paid. -

however, i love gaming, and i want to support the industry in a way thats not just buying games. This seems like it could be away to do that.
so maybe i will just write off the £70 and see what happens. its nice to be part of something before its released.
dunno, i could also give that money to charity. -

Well it's already funded so they don't 'need' your money, if you're unsure but still want to support it then maybe lower it to $20 or something? -
