Just a upgrade of FB2 with new features and PR friendly numbering. Should look great though. BF3 trailers were.hype overload. I'm still excited but they hooked me last time, for BF4 I will sit back and wait. Don't want to be disappointed again. |

If they are real and in-game on the PS4/Xboxwhatever then I am impressed. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. -

Registered 14 years ago3 screenshots leaked. Very generic and boring ones. Seriously, why the fuck bother with single player?
What I want from BF4 is more of a BF1942 or even BF2 vibe, none of this watered down bullshit. Where are the vast maps with canyons, valleys and shit? Bring back the Commander role. And I think we're mature enough to drive submarines and fly bombers ourselves.
Basically BF2 in Frostbite. -

Registered 11 years ago@Iain815 Can't remember where I saw it but something I read suggested the Commander role would be coming back. They also said that there would be a couple maps focusing on close quarter combat though... -

It's ok, just not what I play Battlefield for.
What's wrong with close quarters combat? It's great in BF3. -
The maps in close quarters are great. Better than anything in Blops 2. But they are 4 maps out of 30. So people moaning about them I just don't get. They are a nice change of pace and if you want to warm up for 30 mins why not play them? If they were 15 out of 30 I could understand. But 4 out of 30 come on! -

So here we are in Battlefield 4. And the big news for now is, the single player has been completely re-thought. EA DICE knows it did the wrong thing in the previous game, aping the corridor-based, super-linear antics expounded in Call of Duty. Instead, the campaign action is going to reflect the open, emergent feel of multiplayer. Players will get more space and time to decide their own tactics; there will be the ability to highlight enemies and suggest firing positions for computer-controlled squad-mates. There will be different approaches to key situations – players can hang back with a sniper rifle or grab a jeep and charge into the fray. Indeed, in the Fishing in Baku sequence, there were apparently ways to sneak through with little gunfire; the player could also have spent longer in the taxi, bolting around the countryside. The idea is to emulate those spontaneous, player-created moments of tension and narrative we know from online play.
"It won't be an open-world game," clarifies the studio's general manager, Karl Magnus Troedsson, later on. "It's actually a combination. There are epic, dramatic set-pieces where we control the player more – but even there, we still want to give you autonomy, so if you're inside something more controlled, you have to decide when to participate. But when you get to other parts of the game, like the big action bubble in the construction site in our demo, that's where the big change is happening. We didn't get as far as we wanted with BF3 - so we thought, 'you know what? When you get into a fight in one of our games, it's got to be much more like it is in multiplayer - you need to have the freedom of movement, the choice of tactics, weapons and vehicles…'"

Registered 11 years agoI'm yet to finish the SP in BF3 - Just couldn't be arsed. I'll be very surprised if the SP in BF4 is good, but on that showing, I'm very optimistic.
Again, judging solely on that 17 mins of footage, I'd say the SP is looking far more Bad Company 2 and less BF3 already. If things continue in that vein then, for me at least, it's chances of success are all the better. -

Of course it's looks identical to all other modern FPS games so will bore me to tears.
Same dialogue, same completely unsurprising set pieces, same boring gameplay.
Yawnsies. -

I do think variety is important for shooters, but I just wish it would all remain on the same server.
I think the variety is good. The close quarters gun play is exceptional in Battlefield. -

The graphics look great, but i'm not interested in playing a campaign if that's what's it's going to be like. Just imagine the money they'd save if they focused solely on the multiplayer. Hopefully we get some details for that soon. -

Hopefully something interesting is done with that engine as it looks great. -

Registered 18 years agoLooks nice but a shame they haven't put some fun into it like Bad Company after the awful BF3 single player. They say it is more open at least so that might be better. Just very dull. Multiplayer as always though.
Quite tame on the pre orders so far, much like the BF3 Karkand bonus. The premium sub must be a monster. -

Registered 15 years agoLooks great, but probably running on a PC the likes of which are typically found at NASA HQ. I'm sure the console version won't look much better/different than BF3, but hopefully the MP changes justify a new version. I was fooled into believing BF3's campaign would be slightly above ordinary and I was thoroughly bamboozled. I'll not repeat that mistake!
BF3's MP was also a disappointment for me. I think it was the maps.

Registered 16 years agoI was hoping for a different setting as 'modern' time frame is getting pretty boring. Would've loved a return to WII, Vietnam or even the future.

So coming out in Autumn for PC,Xbox and PS3.Don't think I want to see my M$ sandwich box struggle with another Frostbite engine. And hope next gen PS4 or 720 will have its own version with larger player count.
