Cheers :) I was concerned it was like Evolve, where the spot button will also point out nothing so they'd all see a big, pointless dot when all I was trying to do is check if it really is a sniper in that bush in front of me.

BF hardline is decent, bit rough in patches but for just shy of 4 quid, it's paid for itself already. Lots of full servers as well!

@DFawkes As long as you aren't squad leader and telling your squad to attack objectives constantly.
But I think they chanted the default setting to not do that.

Is it worth getting the premium edition of bf4 or are the dlc maps rarely in rotation on ps4? Might get hard-line as I really enjoyed the beta.

@Kichi I picked up the Premium one on PS4 as it's only £11.99. Played first few games online tonight, great stuff, although of course on the newbie servers.

I think you have to select the specific DLC, they don't pool the maps together in rotation. I can't remember whether there is a server browser that lets you scan through and pick out DLC maps, I always go through the quick play options.

And are the dlc servers busy?

I don't to touch the vanilla maps again. Done that on 360 and ps4 enough already.

@Kichi China rising there were less players, Second Assault was heaving though. As long as you play conquest you're golden. Once you select conquest you get a submenu where you select which DLC you want, and then it automatically joins a random server. There is a server browser and you can enter search criteria which does include isolating DLC maps. I did a search for Caspian Border 2014 which is a Second Assault map and it threw up more than ten or so populated servers.

@hillbilly66 I'm hoping that second assault and the rest of the dlc is free in the next few weeks as I accidentally cheaped out and just bought the base game for £4. As I already picked up the free dlc dragons teeth and final stand I don't think I'll bother paying for the rest of the dlc.

They now put all of the maps into rotation for conquest, it's a premium quick match option.

Played this a bit again the other day, still by far the best current gen shooter, yes the fr is a bit iffy these days but the sheer spectacle of it all is still unrivalled.

Also replayed a bit of hardline last night, seems harder than I remember and runs a bit worse than i recall but has some great small vehicle action in it. Bombing about in a suv with gun turrets etc, with hip hop blaring out with mates is hilarious.

I'm only going on a few hours of multiplayer time but large maps with 64 players wasn't the kind of tactical team experience I was expecting. I thought I was trapped in a remake of that old video game Track & Field - players just sprinting everywhere, made it impossible to keep with a squad let alone drop them supplies, etc,

Still, I'm not too surprised as I was playing alone with randoms and it was still sort of enjoyable.

If anyone wants to save me from joining one of the many platoons that are recruiting crack players like me then I'm HomerIsMyIdol on PS4. I'm on gmt+1 and am fairly flexible with times for a game. Maybe a newbie squad for some squad death match, although I'd be happy to play whatever as long as it's working together and not doing the special Olympics. Equally happy to be shown the ropes by any experienced players. I have a mic too.

@Tryhard :D Cheers Tryhard. I'm billy no mates when it comes to video games so I have to go begging to the internet !

There must be a quite a few people who have bought BF4 even at this late stage, as its cheap and the DLC is being given away so there isn't a lack of players to join up with. Unfortunately, I think the maps might be filled with new players like me, running around solo. But to me, its the exact opposite of the game I'd like to be playing.

Platoons maybe what you are looking for. Look for any active ones on Battlelog forums, or as you said one of those PS4 communities.

With all these new players running around it's probably a mish mash of people going in every direction at the moment.

Had lost the disc but found it again, and I'll be on quite a bit over the next while, got the bug again. Feel free to jump in or send an invite. Just downloaded the free DLC and want to try out those maps.

@TheBlackDog just a general tip, the game can sometimes drop you into a squad of 2 or 3. In the menu pick a squad of 4 to make the 5 and then try following someone who looks like they know what they're doing. Even two playere working together can make the world of difference.

I'm up for randomly shooting strangers via the wonder of the internet as well. Add me who so wishes: PSN - WuntyPhyve

Used to play a fair bit of BF3 but held off buying this for some reason. Got it now along with Hardline and Battlefront. I'm normally a big support gun wielding twat that skulks on boulders until I get picked off.

For those on Xbox One that bought this for the tiny amount, there's another free DLC for Gold members this week:

    Second Assault

I quite like the way you can chose which map pack you play. I've only played the core maps so far but I got this and at least 1 of the other DLC packs free already. I certainly won't complain :)

    Coming soon.

Now, you're able to create a Squad before you actually enter into a game. Being able to join up with your friends and join into a game together makes it a much smoother experience, and helps make sure you're able to spawn on your buddies as soon as you're in the game.
