Can anyone recommed a decent server that doesn't have bans on a whole load of weapons I can't begin to remember? I don't like the idea of being banned seemingly at random (yet to happen, to be fair).

Really? Fair enough. I've not jumped into the online since Bad Company 2 and its been quite unusual. Searching through servers reminds me of the old days of online gaming.

Had a couple of games today. Still think this is the best multiplayer game on current gen.

Seems like it's improved a huge amount in the year I haven't played it.

Say thanks to the community who stuck with BF4 through thick and thin, and worked with Dice LA to put this game back on it's feet.

Wish I wasn't so quick. Yes the game has definitely improved but fuck me....if it's not one thing it's the other

Stacked teams with lots of clans/groups of players and then the other team is just mixed randoms who get decimated.

Or it's hackers who know you're every move and can one/two tap you the moment you pop your head out from a place there's absolutely no way they could know you were gonna.

imo it's not possible to have fun solo on this game anymore.

I still have fun on it, but team balancing isn't great. Kinda hard to balance teams without matchmaking.

You got to love the guys and girls still working on this, hope it all carries over to Battlefield 1.

Never did manage to get in to this ;/ My experiences of any multiplayer BF games reminded me of Super Smash Bros. I'm hoping Arma 3 is going to be more what I'm looking for.

Not sure if anyone still needs, but for Xbox One owners, all 5 map packs are free right now, and the game itself is still £3.75 (at least for the morning, I think new deals replace that later), so that's Battlefield 4 with all the maps for a ridiculously good price!

    @DFawkes err that's amazing. I'd love that. :(

It was 3.99 the other day on psn but the maps weren't free. I've played the vanilla game for maybe 150-200 hours but i would have liked to have tried the new maps.

Just played a bit of BF4 where two guys were in a helicopter, clearly working well as a team but the bullshit of it was the gunner had 85-3 by the end of the round. singlehandedly winning the match for the opposing team. Fuck helicopters in this game.

Last time they went free on Xbox One, they went free the next day on PSN as they have different update schedules. Fingers crossed for you that it's the same this time, and you get all that free map goodness tomorrow :)

Good news, and an additional heads-up to PlayStation BF4 players:

    All maps free on PS4

All maps also free on PS3

To confirm all BF4 DLC is free on all platforms, but you must download now! Based on previous form the guess is it will last about a week. that's £75 worth for those of us who were late to the party.

Finally ready to dl this (bought cheap on psn months ago, along with all the free dlc). Now I don't give a shit about multiplayer so was wondering if any of the dlc was for single player or is it all mp maps?

I think it's all MP stuff. TBF, the SP is serviceable at best. MP is deffo where it's at and to dismiss it is doing yourself a disservice. It's baller, but you are going to get owned at first, because map knowledge is super critical in these games.

I know this is all about the MP but bought it with Hardline on a whim in the sales so I thought I might as well try out the SP.
Honestly can't see myself trying the MP but we'll see I guess, am open to it but with kids etc not being able to pause gets kind of tricky...maybe amongst friends that are just as shit after bedtime :D

    Thank you btw!

Yeah I'm in the same boat re: the kids. I just play in the evenings. TBH, I feel the other players on at that time are less likely to run around like headless chickens and approach the game in a more considered way.

    4 things:

    - Play the Objective
    - Playing in a Squad = 1000 times better than lone wolfing.
    - Spot ALL the time
    - Start off by playing support roles - dishing out ammo, health, picking people up, using the motion balls & mobile spawn point etc. Don't worry about kills to start with. That'll come. Just keep your head down, stick close to your squad and play the support role.

What platforms are you guys on? I still play this from time to time so it might be good not to play on my own!

Just turning on the story mode and I'm greeted by Bonny Tyler in my ears, a good start by my books 😂
