The batshit crazy Apogee game gets a remake: I personally thought the original was hugely underrated. Still great fun to play. |

The magic mushrooms were funny. -

Registered 10 years agoI was worried at the start of that trailer, but was relieved to see the insanity has survived intact.
Just hope it doesn't get buried (in a lunchbox) by other bigger FPS games. -

Registered 11 years ago@Ged42 - Something tells me it'll be a budget release, less than £20 at launch. That would suit this kind of knock-about game, and give it a chance against bigger name offerings. -

Registered 16 years agoI loved the multiplayer in the original, especially when whoring the flying power up. -

Registered 13 years agoDetails from Gamespy interview http://uk.pc.gamespy.com/pc/rise-of-the-triad-2012/1225624p1.html
-Game has been in development for just six months so far
-Single player campaign is 20 levels with four bosses, all of which return from the original (it's a reboot!)
-VERY score-attack oriented - killing lots of enemies with the one weapon earns multipliers, but you also get bonus points from secret areas. Speedrun or poke around?
-Global leaderboards for scores and stats.
-No co-op because it would have delayed the project, they definitely want to add additional multiplayer stuff in free updates so...
-Multiplayer is very fast and Q3A-ish. Don't expect comp-level balance, they're going for "chaotic fun".
-Quakecon floor demo is 3v3, final version will support 32 players.
-Roughly 55% complete, release date later this year, with plans for -long-term support
-$15 price tag -

Registered 16 years agoI hope Remote Ridicule makes a return, I know there's voice comms these days but pressing a button and calling someone a "wiener" using the Beavis & Butt-head voice pack was always entertaining in my office. -

Also decided to dust of the old ROTT, found a program called WinRott that makes it easier to run on the newer versions of windows without all that faffing around with DosBox. -

Registered 11 years agoThat looks fun, but I get the feeling it will quickly loose its charm after a very short time, unless there is some kind of depth to it. -
One of the only games I can remember where enemies beg for their lives. Loved the God Mode too.
