I personally don't get it, its not even with each person having completely different disabilities.

If each athlete had the same disability then fine but any event I've ever seen has one person miles ahead of the rest.

I find it hard to rave about the 'winning' because to my mind there are too many variables. Also I get upset that no-one's ever come up with short person basketball for my particular disability.

That said I hope everyone involved has a jolly nice time and you can't fault the effort and dedication that goes into the training. There's an awesome Channel 4 advert that I saw in the cinema that did a superb job of selling it.

But what would the alternative be Revan - only let athletes compete if the have the same disability? Have separate events for each type of disability? Not have Paralympics at all?

I'll watch it. I won't be as into it or as hyped as I was for the prior games (bit burnt out on it all), but I'm still interested. I don't see why the two are treated so separately though - I think they should do the closing ceremony for the Olympics and then the following day or week the Paralympics should begin.

The Paralympics is pretty shit. No one actually cares about it, but many feel obliged to pretend they do. I'm certain 99% of disabled people couldn't give a fuck about it either.

Given that about 30% are in it, I'd say you're wrong.
