The Lumia 1320 is massive!|
Windows Phone 8 • Page 40
Downloaded the latest Nokia Camera app for my 720. Lots of options to play with and infinitely better than the stock camera. Plus, it seems to have fixed the grainy photos after the Amber update. Go get it people!

meh, windows 8, meh
Got the WP8 update here on my 8X. The one with the rotation lock and all that. Going to have a wee look around.
@Tom_Servo Update 3!? Report back!
Well there's a rotation lock and a task manager. They work. I guess those are the main things for most people.
There's some other new stuff. Driving Mode: turns off everything but texts and phone calls when you're driving. You can set up an auto-reply.
You can now see what's using what in your phone storage and manage it from there (although the used/free ratio doesn't seem to work. It's showing all my available memory as being used and free, but this just seems to be a glitch and doesn't effect the data it shows when you click the bar or the accuracy of the bar itself). So, you can delete temporary files for example.
There's a couple of different options for typing (I think). You can set it to go back to letters after an emoticon, and turn off auto-correct. It's possible you could always do this and I just missed it though.
You can turn off background data when on mobile internet now, either always restricting it or just restricting it if you're roaming.
I still want a way to check for app updates manually though.
- YouTube no longer works. I get an immediate "Can't play this file on your phone" message now.
- After updating my sound wasn't working. Worth noting this, as I've just woken up an hour and a half after I intended to get up. I've restarted my phone and it seems okay now.
- Clicking on a notification (Skype or Twitter, for example) when you have a password on your phone still causes the app to crash. Instead you have to enter your password and go into the app yourself.
I'm looking to get a Lumia 1020 soon, can anyone tell me if a 4.5"-sized successor is rumoured or in the works for the short to medium term? I don't want to buy it now, only for an upgraded version (1080p screen, 64GB/expandable storage?) to come out within a couple of months!
@-anon Nothing announced or rumoured at the moment, as they've only just unveiled the 1320, 1520 and 2520. I'm hoping for the same thing though, as my contract is up in about six months. I really want that camera, just with updated internals.
So you reckon there won't be a '1030' or anything of that nature for at least 6 months, if not more?
I'm fine with its internals. Runs like the clappers as-is. Just 1080p and more storage are 'headline' features I could do with.
Other than that, want it for that amazing camera..
@-anon I've no idea. Nokia are pumping out the handsets at the moment, so who knows.
My 920 runs beautifully, but I'd imagine for an updated 1020 they'd slap a Snapdragon 800 in there. May as well have a bit more power in there if they're offering it
But yeah, the camera is the main draw for me. A mate just got a 1020 a few days ago. I need to nick it off him for a bit and have a play around with it!
Yeah, my 920 is silky smooth as-is, hence why a faster processor and more RAM are merely "good to have's" for me, but I wouldn't hold out for them. Windows Phone is already superbly optimized.
@-anon Yeah, that's pretty much my attitude too. I'd imagine any handsets likely to be announced soon-ish would have a Snapdragon 800 though, as that's what's in the 1520.
The best thing to do is keep an eye out on WPCentral as they post all the rumours and leaks. I'm sure someone will also post it in here if anything's announced though.
Windows Phone sales explode in Europe, gain in the US, and pass the iPhone in Italy
Windows Phone is the world’s fastest growing smartphone operating system
Cool so lets start seeing more support.
A little too late for me. I'm about to switch back to Android as my Lumia 920 is about to be worth less than £100 for resale!
I love the operating system and the only thing keeping me from coming back is the lack of support for apps.
As soon as that improves I shall return!
Also it doesn't exactly have much competition in the growth stats, it was either this or blackberry and blackberry were pretty much dead in the water already.
Posted in the Nexus thread but my Lumia 920 (black) is up for grabs if anyone is interested.
Android and iOS saw no rise or fall in their %
If they saw no rise or fall where did the growth come from?
Clue: Previously mentioned friut based company of the berry variety and new smart phone users.
It's still impressive but it's the equivalent of a developing country growth rate compared to a developed country.
They are growing. I know Nokia sold just under 9M in Q3 of this year seeing a 19% growth.

Nokia is only growing because of their low-end phones such as the Lumia 520 and 620/25 doing well in India and a few scattered countries in Europe.
... if you took those away, I doubt the results would be as impressive. You also have to consider that BlackBerry are sadly going on a downward spiral too, which allows another OS to gain some of their market share.
p.s. I will pass on your Lumia 920 Mr. McMonkey, but thank you anyway!

So do folks think it's still worth getting a 920 now, especially when the 925 and 1020 pretty much supercede it?
I like the idea of parading around with an eye-catching kick ass 1020 camera but at double the price of a 920, reality does kick in. Plus I have a load of Tesco vouchers which mean I could get a 920 for not much at all.
@Mageme Depends really. Only you can say if you'll be satisfied with it for the amount of time you'll have it. I still love mine and it does everything I want it to do. I do really want that monster camera though
Isn't the main difference between the 920 and 925 the camera?
@Baihu1983 It's pretty much the design, really. The camera just has an added lens element for increased sharpness, but other than that I think it's the same module.

Anyone else having problems with email on their windows phones? My two outlook email addresses are stuck permanently syncing until I send an email from them and then a load of emails all arrive at the same time.

No price with mail. I just want Google to start making apps for it.

My mail works fine except that it sends two emails every time I try to send one.
May be something to do with the fact that I have two accounts merged on there...
