So, just to be clear; if we all had more time to get used to just how much of a boring bastard Andy Murray is, he would magically develop a personality? |

Yeah If you're saying that 'personality' in this context refers to their character when actually playing/doing more than their actual personality; I agree.
Murrays alright imo. -
For a scot he's cheerful, compared to a normal human he's a miserable fuck. -

Registered 12 years agono, we're saying that you shouldn't judge on whether or not someone has a personality based on a handful of media interviews and nothing else.
did you actually bother to watch the youtube link that armoured bear linked to? did you read what rem said? -

Registered 11 years agoYou should just give up dufftown, unfortunately people's perceptions of Andy Murray border on ignorance. A lot of it stems from the shoddy journalism surrounding him being accused of 'anti-English' sentiment during the time of a major football tournament (which was later proved to be complete bollocks anyway).
He's basically just a passionate and hard-working (and successful) sportsman, who hates to lose and doesn't hide his negative emotion as well as others, tennis is a pretty lonely sport during matches. He's had his demons in terms of mastering the psychological side of the game, and doesn't interview especially well.
He's the most successful tennis player this country has produced for over 70 years, and a role model to thousands of kids playing/looking to take up the sport.
And yet people find it quite easy to 'hate' the 'miserable cunt'. It's nothing short of pathetic. -
I was just putting my favourite sports person in the hat; You quoted me. I'm not required to read or watch shit at your back and call. -

Registered 12 years agoNone of it stems from him being 'anti-english'. I would be saying exactly the same if.. well.. I cant think of a similarly boring english sports star, but if there was one, I would also object to him being nominated for an award called 'sports PERSONALITY of the year'. -

Registered 11 years agoSteven Gerrard is an English example. He's a personality vacuum as well.
And yes, that is based on TV interviews and the like.

Registered 10 years agoI think Murray had every right to mock the England football team; they've been a bunch of over-hyped, over payed, under performing cunts for a decade now.
And Murray isn't dour or boring- he's a normal person who realises that being good at a sport doesn't make you a god (see a fore mentioned EPL players) and keeps himself to himself outside tournaments. -

I'm fully aware of that which is why I object to it and Andy Murray so much. -

Registered 12 years agoI wouldn't mind your opinion at all if there was actually some basis in it nick, but to say he has no personality points to a lazy generalisation and a lack of knowledge, that's all. -

I think if Murray had won Wimbledon instead of the US Open it might have been a little closer to Wiggo....perhaps.

Agreed, I love both tennis and cycling and am a big Murray fan. It has to be Wiggins though, for me. The fact 'it was a cyclist last year' is just irrelevant.

I'm both a tennis and cycling fan and there's no way Murray's 1 slam and olympic gold can outshadow Wiggo's achievements. First Brit to win the TDF in 100 years and more Olympic medals than any other UK athlete. Seems pretty straight forward to me.
Got to be the miserable Scot for me. Was a cyclist last year. Poor reason but it's the only way I can split Murray and Wiggins! -

Also Wiggins is basically done now, whereas you get the sense Murray is really only just peaking and probably has greater things ahead of him.
It's so blatantly going to be Wiggins and deservedly so.
Wiggo's got at least 2 or 3 Grand Tours in him yet and I doubt he'll rest until he's at least won the Giro and Vuelta. -
