Soon we will have everyone at max level with no idea how to play their class. Just like old times. |

Some people are just leeching, but most people I see are actively taking part, and I genuinely think they'll have a much better idea of how to play than if they had levelled in the usual manner. You actually get to use full rotations and have to pay attention to mechanics.
Got my hunter to level 100, I actually quite like BM, will probably use it for my alt-raids. -
I've honestly not noticed that happening :s -
I am Horde! Maybe people are leaving but I've not seen many invasions with low numbers in p2 and p3. Certainly not seen a 90% drop off. You must have a crappy battlegroup (or whatever pool of players it draws from)
-
Different people want different things from the game. I'm sure if you're happy logging in sporadically you'll have great fun solo kiting those target dummies. But others might be there for the 720 gear on their 11th alt and just want shit done the best way possible.
I enjoyed the first invasion. I killed things, we all flew around, it was fun.
After 500, I'm min maxing the shit out of it and I'll leave the guys to learn their cooldown rotations or whatever. -
I'd rather actually play through the entire invasions, it's really not that bad. The gear isn't even that good, got my alts to 700 by not min maxing (by playing the invasions " properly") and that's good enough. Can't be arsed going for warforged gear for the minuscule difference it'll make whilst levelling.
Still, I'm consistently seeing a good twenty-or-so players during phases 3 and 4. -
Having people level alts 3 days before an expansion release in areas that are normally graveyards isn't really twisting any knickers. You do know the mobs scale to how many people tag it right? If there are 40 people in stage 3 who tag and afk your "gaming experience" will be no doubt far worse than 10 people all practising their cooldowns -
People who afk are still twats, though.
I mean; that's something we can all agree on.

Registered 11 years agoI have been doing the stage one and two trick on my alts that are under level sixty it is near on impossible to get any good gains from stage three without flying.
As soon as I get to sixty I start doing stage three as well for boxes so I have as many as I can to open at one hundred.
Going with Druid for Legion now. -
Watch a mobs health % the next time you're practising your kiting and cooldowns and see how wrong you are and how correct I am, guy.
It wont get in the way of your gaming experience. -

Correct. I think this is where people are tripping themselves over trying to be smart by calling everyone else dummies. They don't seem to take into account travel time, the fact that it costs what, 5,000? to fly speedy, pain in the arse effort, and the fact they don't respawn for 2 hours after stage 3.

Exactly this. It makes total sense for a lowbie to log out and reset. Why on earth would people that cannot take advantage of the xp in any stage (ie because the flyers race ahead and nuke down each mob) stay anyway? After all, these events are just a bit of fun, even Blizzard has said they want people to level alts and deliberately made them lucrative to encourage just this. The problem of people logging out after any stage is no better or worse than earlier in the patch, when this problem was replaced with tonnes of Level 100's just hovering above afk for the whole invasion.

And for lowbies it's not more lucrative at all to do the whole invasion. The XP gained from the demon lords, demon commander and the bosses in phase three far outweigh the stage completion bonus since they nerfed it. And boxes are mostly useless at low levels.
The way I have done it since the latest round of hotfixes is:
- Until flying, complete stages 1 & 2 and logout to reset
- When flying (280), complete stages 1, 2 & 3 and logout to reset
- Level 90-100, do all invasions fully, collect boxes to open at 100
Like it or not, they've made it so that participation is rewarded, and it's working. -
Do what what you want, but I find resetting after P2 far more tedious than seeing it through. -

Registered 6 years agoNot that i play WoW these days but i just saw Legion (prepurchase) in Game for £27. Not massive saving but looks like an ok price if anyone was looking. They also had Overwatch for £27 which i did buy. -
Blue post from last week
We agree that our initial change made Invasions too unrewarding for characters who weren’t at max level, so we’ve just applied a hotfix that increases XP gains from killing Legion invaders. Since Invasions are only around for a short period of time, we want them to feel lucrative, and provide incentives to actively participate in them.
It's not exploiting lol
They WANT people to level up as quickly as possible. Having played the game for over 10 years it's nice to be able to boost up some free alts that I've got knocking about on various servers with friends who have moved on. It's all about creating a buzz around the game. Have fun and don't worry about everyone else so much! -

What server are you on? I know there is cross-realm but I haven't experienced any of your problems with the invasions being deserted. In fact every time I've been playing the invasions have been rammed for the full duration when I've done it all.

Sure, do what you want. Exploit the flawed phasing for your perceived personal gain. The facts are. You do exploit a flaw. You don't play the game as intended. Many players are like you. To the point that the gamedesign breaks, frequently. Phase 3 and Phase 4 are often deserted.
@GoodForm
Typical type of player who wants others to play it how he wants them too.
I paid for the game, I pay the monthly sub, I'll play it how i want to, thanks.
This is not as intended, and it's your fault that it doesn't work. Do as you will, just know that I think it's a rather dull playstyle - and not at all as beneficial as some might think - and you're breaking the events for those who'd rather enjoy them fully.
I have eight level 100's. I have levelled up 'properly', I have levelled up just queueing for dungeons over the past six or so years. I've also levelled up with the invasions, either logging between 1-60 or doing them fully from 90-100, it's nice they're giving us a way to level quickly without using a boost.
Legion is three days away, the whole reason of invasions is to level up quickly in any way the player wants too. You and others can't be doing it for the loot because if you were that bothered you would be raiding mythics still.
If you're doing that for enjoyment then fair enough, but some people enjoy levelling up quickly or only doing certain parts of the game and you can't begrudge them that. You enjoy it one way, someone enjoys it another. -
Wow goodform has a serious hard on for phase 3!
