Registered 15 years agoTo be honest, though there's obviously an issue of sexism here that I'm not really prepared to weigh in on, my dislike of it is mainly due to how it can spoil the atmosphere of these kind of events.
It's a bit like the bouncers at the front of a gig, but wearing daft looking skimpy outfits in some juvenile, insulting attempt to try and distract/attract you. They still hate the band though, and they're being paid to stand there making you feel uncomfortable and occasionally pouncing on people (and taking the place of someone who might've actually been able to tell you something about the game you're looking at besides its name). -

Hah, legend. Should go and hit up the "spammer needs banning" thread.

Not that you have any bias on the matter.
I think its a real shame as the majority of visitors are young males who obviously love computer games and also love girls, it just makes the whole day even more enjoyable.
I don't think having girls at the event will mean your unlikely to play any of the games or will effect your computer game/accessory wish list!
You would not expect the Autosport exhibition organisers to ban promo girls as they are taking the attention away from the cars! Its one of those things that adds to the experience. Computer games & girls, Cars & girls, drink & girls, this all goes hand in hand.
Bottom line, don't ban promo girls, just maybe ask the companies to tone down the clothing (Virgin).
Thanks for reading. -

Registered 15 years agoThere is a way round the Booth Babe ban; companies could employ models to act as gamers in cosplay outfits that represent the company and their products. -

Registered 13 years agoCosplay is a wonderful thing. Just normal people having a great deal of fun. All the ComiCon Expos I've been to have been great fun.
Booth babes though are a different breed. The ones I've spoken to just come across as horrible people. They are there to sell you shit at any cost. They think that just jiggling their titties will do the trick. Although they don't deserve the arse grabbing that someone mentioned before. -

Expo? I wish my last job had done this. There was this one guy I wasn't willing to sit in his chair as I was fixing his computer.

Booth Babes are pretty grim, go to a car show if that's what you want. We should be past that now, interesting that some companies think we are not. -

Registered 13 years agoWhat is it with these girls. They all have curved spines and can't stand up straight. Must take any job, even degrading booth babes just to pay their medical bills.
And don't even get me started on that localised swelling they all suffer from. Must be the medication causing that unnatural gland growth.
Poor things! -

Registered 6 years ago@Moshiicake You hit the nail on the head. The thing is I have always said there got to be some stupid men up in this place. These companies have looked at male gamers and gone TWATS; your going to give my booth attention for what someone knowledgeable about the product or game NAHHHHHHHHHHHH that too much training we want a day off just send a pretty girl there lol
The thing is I don't mind if they knew what they was selling and could give me informative answers to my questions. There are some attractive girl gamers out there, that would make more of an impact to men who attended their booth because they would have a pretty girl talking about a common interest THEY BOTH SHARE. -

I think i lost count of the amount of smelly, halitosis ridden mouth breathers i had to stand in line by, seriously! I farted at one stage and the air smelt CLEANER...there is NO need for bad hygiene at an event like this! -

That's great. Are we in Japan?
Show me a message that booth babes give off that's inappropriate and I'll show you ten japanese games objectifying barely legal girls, complete with nudge nudge wink wink EG review quotes.
Hey, it's raup's show. Just seems unusually heavy handed is all.
