Same as every morning, fresh mango, pineapple and blueberries with natural yoghurt and some plain cereals.
I'm having some fucking bacon at the weekend though, that's for sure...

Can anyone else here not face food early in the morning? The thought of it makes me feel slightly ill. Especially very early just after waking up, and especially anything slightly rich. I can't even eat eggs unless it's close to midday.

    I usually just skip breakfast.

Porridge with dates, blueberries, bananas. Mini hot cross bun with raspberry jam, cup of tea, apple juice. Would eat more if I had more time.

I don't have breakfast right away, don't feel like eating for an hour or two, I usually have breakfast at 10.

I have breakfast after going to the gym or for a run, I can't slide out of bed and start eating, need to start the metabolism back up first.

    Coffee
    Dump
    Exercise
    Enormous breakfast

I have it once a week but think that may be too often/not often enough.

If you work in Bristol and havnt had a breakfast roll from Grill Stock in St Nicks market then you're missing out. Pulled pork, fried egg, cheese, sauce in a roll. It's unreal.
I had chia seed & coconut granola. It was really nice but i want what you had!

Have you got a recipe for that that you'd recommend?
It's top of my list of things I want to try cooking... Looks so damn good!!
  • Deleted user 17 March 2016 12:08:17
Recipe? I just chop up some peppers and chillis, mix in some (homemade, because I'm 1337) salsa, scramble or fry a couple eggs and serve on a wholewheat tortilla.

Add some avocado sometimes if I've got one.

I'm thinking more of the buzzfeed foodporn style of huevos rancheros... In a cast iron skillet with the eggs cooked as part of it, rather than fried separately...

Fuck it, I'll just Google it and try the recipe with the nicest looking picture!

That's basically the reason I do intermittent fasting. Really can't do breakfast... though I must say I will force myself to have a full English if I'm staying in a B&B. :D

Did you make any? If so, how was it? It's actually my favourite breakfast! Personally, i think, like most food it's keeping it simple and cooking it with attention to detail and love.

As with a lot of things there isn't a single cast in stone recipe but i think but adding all thst other stuff isn't authentic nor nessesary. If you do a search in spanish for "huevos rancheros receta tradicional" you'll find almost all of them are just a rich spicy tomato sauce, fried egg, on a corn tortilla.

The ones with cheese, beans, avocado, and kitchen sink are more American and for me just detracts from the beauty of runny yolk mixing with hot tomato sauce, some chopped corriander, and the crunch of a home made tortilla. If you haven't made a home made tortilla then it's worth to try. It's pretty easy to do a half decent corn tortilla.

If you're interested in trying and want more detail let me know.

I actually came here to post that i made shackshuka for breakfast this morning and it was flipping delicious! A middle eastern/north african dish of eggs poached in a tomato, peppers and onions sauce rich with spices, safron, garlic and a bit if chilli heat. Served with crusty fresh bread and a strong black coffee. Heaven!

It was fantastic! If i don't go out tomorrow then I'll be making it again. I mostly followed this

    http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2012/feb/19/yotam-ottolenghi-breakfast-recipe-shakshuka

I left out the coriander, added in ras el hanout spice, and bumped up the garlic. I found i didn't have to add any water becauae i used slightly more tomatoes. The eggs took only 5 mins to cook. It's easy to over do them as you want the runny yolk. Mine were perfect after 5 mins then thought it would be ok to keep it covered while i made coffee.. I was wrong! Slightly over but still good.

Never heard of that before but it looks and sounds amazing. I will make a mental note. I see no reason why that couldn't be a dinner dish either tbh

I had huevos rancheros, courtesy of Giraffe. It was pretty good.

On the weekend oven like to have a nice long leisurely brunch rather than separate breafast then lunch.

Today i made, "turkish eggs", cilbir. That's poached eggs nestling in whipped garlic yogurt with browned chilli butter and rough chopped parsley. Turned out pretty well for a first attempt. My poached eggs were over though so need to practice. If you're after something different i recommended giving it a go!link for the recipe. Its actually a great site featuring recipes by top chefs http://www.greatbritishchefs.com/recipes/turkish-eggs-recipe-cilbir

Served it with some sour dough toast, apple juice, and then followed with orange blossom raw honey on toast with coffee.

Inspired by Boom Burgers, made my own version of their dutty butty for breakfast and it was EPIC.

A soft white bread roll slathered with bacon jam, topped with treacle smoked bacon and a fried egg then very generous spooning of an avocado tomato salsa.

    So. Fucking. Good.

Here's what I did. Most of it's really obvious but for what it's worth...

    Wobbly's Dirty Butty

Good white bread roll (used Sainsbury scotch roll)
    Quality back bacon
    Egg (recommend Buford brown)
    1 ripe avocado
    4 ripe tomatoes
    Lime
    Chipotle sauce
    Eat 17 Bacon Jam

    METHOD

Butter your roll then slather bacon jam on the bottom half. I made 2 butties and used around half a jar.

Chop avocado and tomato into small chunks then add a squeeze of lime juice, a good glug of Chipotle sauce and season well. Taste and adjust as you need it.

Fry bacon and keep warm. Fry egg, you want a nice runny yolk. Then put bacon onto the bacon jam, top with egg and spread yolk, generous heaping of the salsa.

Enjoy with plenty of kitchen roll.
