Are you referring the the Guardian article? Cos all I can see there is a reference to 3bn sales, over the last 14 years. Sales != turnover, as I assume you know.

Yes, turnover is irrelevant. There's even a quote from a Labour MP expressing the tax paid as a % of turnover, which is ridiculous. Not sticking up for them, but it could be expressed better.

I'm not an expert on this, just like the drink. For your benefit, I pulled this from Wikipedia:

Numerous coffee houses use the term chai latte for their version to indicate that the steamed milk of a normal latte is being flavored with a spiced tea concentrate instead of with espresso, without necessarily implying the addition of coffee. Some coffeehouses and brand names refer to their product as chai tea latte.

Spiced tea concentrate.. Yummy. How could anyone not love the idea of boiled down tea, a thick and syrupy concentrate with added spice flavourings, bottled and preserved then added to steamed milk.

Doesn't sound too bad, if you like tea. Which I don't. But if I did!!

I just get their hot chocolate and soft butter cookie things that are delicious. I have family who work at one, so all gratis, of course. I wouldn't go otherwise.

Oh, their scones are good too!

Bah, I suppose you're right in this context, as I assume Starbucks aren't making massive profits from investments, and their income from their store in a store operations probably doesn't come to much against their sales of (barely) consumable liquids.
