I wasn't that hyped but the parts where you're driving round Blade Runnered-up Tokyo looked amazing to me.

    Yeah same.

Even if it's shit it'll review well.
I agree. Games publishers and journalists alike have a vested interest in the industry, and the appearance of progress has to be maintained at all costs, otherwise the industry as a whole may be viewed to be on the downturn.

Cyberpunk 2077 is such a key game that it's too big to fail. I'd stay away from mainstream opinion on this one, and instead trust the opinion of friends and forumites.

Jeez - overreactions much? It's a chuffing game, people, not the tentpole event of the century. That's COD. Every year. And FIFA. :)

Eh wtf are you lot on about, this will be amazing. 9 out of 10 at a minimum. It will probably loss the 1 for pretty average shooter mechanics.

It definitely doesn't seem to be as heavy on complex systems as the initial showings, or maybe they're just keeping that under wraps to not scare the casuals off...

I'll be playing it day 1 for sure, but have already kind of set myself up for disappointment.

Why wouldn't you trust your friends anyway?

I hope for a third person camera mod, I expect it'll happen. After all it'd be sad that all the customisation we can do is solely for cutscenes that pull me out of first person.

This is veering into tinfoil hat territory. They might be biased through the general hype, expectation and whatever schmoozing I'm sure the publishers have rolled out. But you've only got to look at something like Anthems to see that big budget, crazily hyped tentpole releases will review badly and ultimately fail if they are shit. Look at Watch Dogs Legion for another recent example.

Then look at something like Ghosts of Tsushima. Got great but not incredible reviews from the press, but players seem to fucking love it.

Fair enough - trust in forum opinions. But really gaming journalists are also just internet dwelling man/woman-babies who play games and have an opinion.

The problem is you said journalists. They’re all people and people are different and like different things.it doesn’t make them wrong.

It’s much better to find a single journalist that likes the things you like. On EG, Christian Donlan is the one who seems to like the same stuff as me and there are games he’s recommended that I wouldn’t even have discovered, never mind tried, without him.

Looking at the latest trailer from what they are showing, there really is a generational difference in how it looks and likely performs compared to “last gen”
I’m now really thinking of holding off, what they showed of xbox1x was much weaker imo. Surely it should be better than what they showed? They’ve been making it for years.

A number of little alarm bells around this one for me.
Cdpr have certainly earned some trust but I haven’t found their marketing campaign all that helpful up to now.

Deffo. It's going to be rough as on PS4. After the last couple of days on the PS5 I've no interest going back playing stuff that can barely hold it together on a base level anymore.

I mean they're saying there's a next gen patch straight away but I'm going to try to hold out for the full fat next gen version.

I can't wait. Was the main reason I was trying to get a ps5 yesterday. If I'm still stuck with my PS4 it will have to do. Hell most open world games I've played look amazing on PS4. Witcher, rdr2 and ghost all still look incredible.

I just put an SSD in my Pro, so hopefully it's not too rough an experience. The load times in Control drove me crazy and really detracted from the experience.

Hopefully high settings with dlss at 1080p will give me 60fps with rtx stuff on, Control was close with the earlier dlss but runs amazing with the newer updates.

If stock of 5600x was plenty I wouldn't have to worry.

Nvidia have a table of suggested specs on this page (I got the RTX only version in an email but the link has more stuff in it too).

    https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/cyberpunk-2077-system-requirements/

I seem to be just above the RT minimum spec (4790K and standard 2070) so hopefully can get reasonable 21:9 1080P from it...

Edit - and right after posting this it ends up on the EG front page...

Nothing anywhere to say it's been delayed most likely it's just classic Amazon being Amazon.

I've currently got a PS4 and will probably get a PS5 in Spring time. In the meantime, I'm going to wait and see how Cyberpunk runs on the PS4, but I was wondering if anyone is planning on picking the Stadia version up? I assume it will run more like the newer console versions on there in theory...........
