LOL! - well what is it then!?

When I got back tonight I decided I'm gonna get myself the shuttle case and motherboard. So theres a case up for grabs and a cheap ASUS K8N-E Duluxe up for grabs if anyone wants them. - Could even be giveaways if I get the case on my work card :)

Yeah, that would have been rather helpful eh.

I'm on the cusp of ordering a sub £1200 gaming spec system from Dell

    P4 3.2 HT
    1gig DDR2 RAM
    19" TFT
    SB Audigy 2
    256mb PCI Express ATI x800XT
    DVD R/W Combo
    5.1 Speakers
1 year collect and return warranty

    £1180 delivered

Or for the same price I could upgrade to P4 3.4ht and drop the GPU down to a 6800GT. Not sure what the best option is.

I've been looking at Dell too since they have good january offers. Their gaming pc looks quite reasonable, you can get a £150 discount and free 19" CRT atm.

It's looking more and more like the ccl ID34-NV2 Headshot Pro for me. I am very, very impressed.

Decided to go for the Headshot Pro - ordered it this morning (it's going to take 3 weeks to get here; good job I'm learning to appreciate the delayance of gratification).
Thanks again to all the guys who helped me out - especially Deem for letting me know about this little beauty and for sending info through to me via e-mail.
One thing I really do like about this forum is that there is a general aura of willingness to be helpful.

/can't wait for new PC to come
    /fidgets a bit.

    I know 3 weeks, christ...

I might gloat just a tiny wee tad, even though it goes against my very, very loose Buddhist principles.

I was damn close to going for the Titan Vantage by the way - this machine just edged it for me.

    /chews fingers
    /fidgets again. :]

Two weeks to go until my new PC arrives...
Games that I've bought so far - quite cheaply - in anticipation:-
    Rome Total War - £24.99
    Far Cry - £14.89
    The Sims 2 - £26.40
Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines - £12.99
Any other recommendations (I haven't played PC games in years)?

/strokes copy of Rome Total War
    /purrs
/shakes fist 'Damn you CCL for taking so long to deliver my new PC'.

the obvious ones would be doom 3 and halflife 2. Also chronicles of riddick.

    haven't played in years huh?

I'm sure you played the original halflife, but the original deus ex?

    Or the thief games?

No one lives forever 1 and 2.

But first stick to games that actually look good :-)

I have Riddick on xbox - it's good. The original Half-Life, *whispers* I wasn't too keen - will I get shot for sacrilege now or summing, shhh? Doom 3 - I don't know if I fancy the idea of running down dark corridors for hours on end, it sounds very oppressive. I have just bought, but haven't played Thief: Deadly Shadows for xbox for £9.99. I played the original Deus Ex and really liked it.
Hmmm I kinda fancy Half Life 2, because there has been so much good stuff said about it - hasn't there been some issues with the downloading (steam) aspect of it though?
No one lives forever 1 and 2 - I haven't heard of these, but I shall investigate.
    Cheers MikeD. :)

Steam can be a bit of a pain but it's alright for most (was for me). You can either download it from steam and pay with credit card or buy in the store and unlock through steam. (and download the patches first so the game stops stuttering and checking for the dvd).

Personally I'd play thief 3 on the pc if you can, but that would be wasting money, hmm. At least play it in first person view. :-)

Doom 3 isn't so oppressive, I thought. There's loads besides corridors. in fact, i'd say most of it is rooms. :-) ut you go outside a few times and have quite a few interactions. maybe wait till it drops in price a bit, I dunno.

My new PC is going to be delivered today - a week earlier than expected. \o/
I can hardly wait to play Rome Total War..., other less discerning members of my family are looking forward to playing The Sims 2 - shameful.

/Does a little dance of joy
/Realises that shittylink are delivering it

Holy crap it'll be in bits when it arrives :(

Are wOOTS appropriate on an occasion such as this?

Surfa - I must warn you , Sims 2 can be very addictive for the 'other members ' of your family, it fact it gets played at every possible time in our computer room, luckily though they have their own PC!

the worst part is they have to tell me what the fuckers are doing in their stupid electronic dollhouse.goddammit.
