News International? FFS! Well at least her "standards" make more sense now.

    Good article from John Walker
    Nice piece.

One of the comments below sums up my thoughts on it, saying how a lack of formal training (law, ethics etc) has created some of this problem.

Social media and ease of access for burgeoning amateurs is a great thing in many ways but perhaps the situation here is a downside to that.

Maybe it's just a generational thing, these apparent conflicts of interest just aren't seen as a problem by certain quarters.

Yep. Let's just delete everything and pretend it never happened, why not just remove the column completely as well?

    Massive irony overload.

    :D

In the light of the events today let me retract my earlier statement. EG is nothing like the EG of old. Rab was the best columnist writing for the site.

Well, what a shitsorm that turned out to be, eh? Shame Rab's decided not to write for EG any more, but don't see what option he had after they edited the article.

Don't think this is gonna die down any time soon. Some great articles being written about journalistic integrity now though, including the couple of pieces John Walker has written in the last two days.

Why does anything slightly scandalous have to be called "gate"? It's bloody annoying. Watergate was not a scandal about water!

    Apparently:

No legal action taken by Intent Media. They asked EG to remove cruel content.

I wonder if legal action was mentioned and did they ask nicely.

Its the social norm. The same one that says journalists aren't influenced by the work of PRs.

Eurogamer editing articles to not 'upset' people? I read the original, he didn't lie did he? What he stated was quotes and then his opinion right?
