They got the central relationship and quiet moments so right, but the villains and pacing so wrong. Purely for Garfield and Stone this film is much more affecting than any of the Raimi movies; but then, I don't care or give a shit about everything else. And that shaky cam at the beginning? Vomit-inducing! |

I really enjoyed this at the weekend especially for Garfield/Stone as with the first film; Garfield was again pitch perfect as Peter Park/Spider-Man. The ending was a bit shocking even though I knew it would come in these films I was expecting Gwen to live a bit longer; on the plus side the portrayal of their relationship was done so well that the impact was still felt .
The overload of villains didn't really occur as suggested by the various trailers and the other promotional material; the pacing and overlap between them worked very well.
The danger with the 2 aeroplanes seemed a bit tacked on and unnecessary; it also reminded me of the crane bit from the first film.
