@RaymondLuxuryYacht or the GPU is the main board and you attach a CPU to it :-)

Just donít feel the need to upgrade as it would be pointless.

Would like to have a 3080 though but will resist lol

Will spend the coin on a decent monitor instead the one Iím after is over a grand
I'm only upgrading from a 1080ti because I got a 1440/144 monitor a couple of months back. It was absolutely fine for 1440/60 before that.

Kind of wish I'd just kept the old 60hz monitor... It's a slippery slope when you move away from it.

Lol, pretty much. They will probably release bigger vram versions around the AMD launch and then the TI versions before end of the year or early next.

An MSI seller on Reddit in Italy asked for 50 cards for the 3080 and got 2.

Ok in preparation for upcoming upgrades across the board from my end, I want to get a new monitor. Dell have a promo code at the moment and wondering what the EG thoughts on these models are:

    Dell 27 Monitor (S2721DS) - QHD 2560 x 1440 at 75 Hz for £195.49 after promo code

    Dell 27 4K UHD Monitor (S2721QS) - 4K 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz for £254.99 after promo code

So are those decent prices? Is the £60 extra for 4K worth it you reckon?

I wouldn't go for either and would get S2721DGF. It came out about a month and is really good monitor for the cash. I got mine down to around £300 with codes.

Going back to a 16:9 monitor after using 21:9 would feel odd now. I supose it depends on the genres of games you like how much that matters though...

No idea if you care or Dell offer any 1440P 21:9 options though... That res would be my next upgrade from my 1080P one though...

    Hmmm, that's £330 for a 1440p @ 144Hz so basically it's £135 for an extra 75Hz over the S2721DS?

EDIT: £330 is the best price after promo code

It's using a much better and newer panel than the 1DS.

Have you tried using the school's back code? Not sure if Dell are still doing it?

Iíd go for the 1440p monitor, thatís 3.6 million pixels. 4k is 8.2 million pixels.

For little old me on a lowly 980ti, I'm hoping the 3080 is quite a bump. I could get a second hand 2080ti but if I'm paying all this I want the new shiney with warranty and hasn't been OC'd to buggery
Oooow, look at Mr. fancypants with his 980ti.
I'm long overdue an upgrade but it's not an option for the moment.
So I have to soldier on with .. euh ... * checks dxdiag * ... my GeForce GTX 750 Ti SC that I bought 6 years ago.

    One day though. One day.
    * sigh *

Surely you can get an upgrade on that card for peanuts?

Unfortunately, I can't help you as I've not had a gaming PC for a decade (assuming you don't want to downgrade further!), but there must be a reasonable chance someone will be prepared to give you their old GPU on the cheap/gratis. Once they are more than two generations old they have no real resale value.

So the only I card I wanted on launch was an EVGA one and neither will be in stock on Thursday. Bah.

Bah indeed, I was looking at getting the FTW3 card. I couldn't get hold of a GTX 680 months after release and settled on the rather nice ASUS GTX 670 DirectCU II, which was faster than the stock 680, the same won't apply to the 3070, though. Ampere seems like a paper launch clusterfuck.

Anyone know whats a good low profile GPU these days? Spotted a GTX 1650 but was hoping for freesync through hdmi and I believe I need AMD GPU for that.

It'll just be reference PCB at launch. I'm still debating on an FE if it reviews well but the thought of dealing with digital river (they distribute the cards) is putting me off.

I've heard they're awful to deal with if you have to RMA a card.

I know Rougey has used them in the past but I have read some RMA horror stories. Think I'll wait for EVGA and by then we should know more about AMD.

Yeah, probably. The thing is, I should probably revisit the whole thing and consider upgrading mobo, CPU, RAM, GPU...

I've clamped down a lot on the impulse steam sale purchases and have so many games to play still that the old 750ti can still run them reasonably well. I I have to go to medium or low settings, it' snot that big of a deal.

@KD there isn't much these days. You could get a RX 560, but it's much slower than the GTX 1650.

Do you really need freesync though? I had a freesync monitor before, but discovered that at low framerates it's simply not that useful.

Was it 67fps at full fat 4k or 2k+DLS?
    I couldn't work it out

It was 2k DLSS with very high RTX settings running at 67 frames. The high was 141 and the low was 41. It was using the Cyberpunk benchmark.

@Malek86 Cheers, its only because I have a spare LG monitor with only hdmi on it, the new pc is for the living room tv mainly and not the most important thing. Did see a 1650 low profile with DDR6 ram amongst the DDR5 versions.
