AMD card image go released on Fornite. Much better better design than FE and the power connector is in the right place.

Trawling the Nvidia Reddit and a lot of cards won't actually release on Thursday. I wouldn't expected delivery for at 2-4 weeks.

If you want to buy in Australia you need to enter a raffle for the FE version lol.

Looks quite nice, only two 8-pins, hopefully there are no mounting pressure issues this time. I've sort of mentally walked away from this Ampere release and don't plan on feverishly scouring the internet trying to blag one from somewhere. Nvidia have historically had problems meeting demand with their products, while Sony and Microsoft seems to do a much better job selling millions of units, pre-orders and everything. 🤔

I'm hanging on now until after AMD. The thought of all that hot air and power consumption in system was making me think again. I also can't fit the majority of cards in my system. I've actually been more tempeted with a 2nd hand 2080ti if they hit the £400 mark.

My expwriencs is probably quite out of date... but I would never go back to AMD. Just had too many compatibility issues. My 1070 on other hand was rock solid.

Haha. Possibly. I dont rate my chances of actually getting hold of a 3080FE anyway.

If I cant get hold of one im just going to hold out for the AMD reveal and see where it goes from there. If 2080ti's become available for very cheap I might even lean towards that.

They were years ago but they have improved recently. The X5700 was a really good card. The new AMD cards are using a small node than Nvidia which should mean less heat and power consumption.

It's interesting that Nvidia have gone full circle with these cards and now have HUGE power hungry cards that everyone slated AMD for.

My past frustrations with AMD have been driver-related. They still seem to be miles behind Nvidia on that front.

I've had far more driver problems with Nvidia, specifically related to Turin cards, than I ever had with my Radeon VII, or indeed the 1080ti Pascal.

    edit

Come to think of it I cant recall a significant driver related problem I've had with the RX 480...or anything from Cypress onward.

Don't think I have ever had driver issues with Nvidia cards (that's over 20 years).

There's usually a list as long as my leg of "known issues" in recent drivers and you can expect a hotfix a few days to a week afterwards. Nvidia really seemed to have struggled with Forza Horizon 3 (Turing) for some reason, which is a game I still play a lot, plus some problems, some of which still took an age to get resolved, with FM7, another game I play daily.

Stuff was written about this last week and I think when someone did the sums it didn't really work out that great.

The power consumption is too high to make it viable for cryptocurrency mining. Thankfully.

They really shouldn't have put up placeholder prices on these AiB cards. Some of them gone up by over £150 lol.

Sounds like the quality AIB cards are largely delayed too. I've seen dates closer to the end of the month for the ROG STRIX and the FTW3.

I think if there was one card I'd try and get the 3 slot cooler for then it'd be this one, given the extra high power consumption.

They will probably be pushing over £800 for FTW.
