Well that sucks, that was the least likely outcome in my mind. So new mobo and psu and it still randomly reboots? Maybe try running on one stick of ram or something?
At this point it isn't even randomly rebooting anymore, it's just rebooting every single time it tries to load Windows. Hell, it even reboots when I unplug all hard drives and try to load the Windows setup from an USB drive.

I'm pretty sure the CPU is faulty. I filed an RMA, we'll see how long it takes. Good thing I kept my old 1500X so I can still use the computer in the meanwhile.

Has anyone had much experience hunting CPU/motherboard deals during Black Friday season? As the 5xxx series Ryzen is so thin on the ground, and prices are being inflated in some places, I'm considering getting a B550 motherboard for future proofing and sticking an i7 3700X in it. Currently found a deal for the CPU which costs £269 which seems pretty great. But I'm aware actual Black Friday is around the corner and wondering what other people's experience is? It seems to be a Black Friday month these days, so OTOH thinking I might just pull the trigger.

I'm not expecting much for Black Friday on Nvidia/AMD's newer side, sellers have trouble keeping stock as is.

That price seems good for the 3700X though. Prices in general have increased lately. I remember buying this 3600 for 160 euro just six months ago, now you can't find it for less than 220 euro. So that seems like a decent offer already.

But it's only maybe a week to Black Friday. If you think the deal will stay, you might as well wait a bit and see. Worst case, you should find another deal soon enough, since retailers will be looking to clear out their old stock.

Aye you have similar feelings to me. I'm not sure if this will stay, but it will probably be replaced by something similar/equivalent. It's an eBay store offer code thing.

I'm not so fussed about saving 20 quid or whatever. More wondering if the 3700X is going to be £200 in a week or so. But... seems unlikely...?

@Tomo I might have a 3700X going spare if you are just thinking about going that way until Zen 3 parts become more readily available, and/or they release 5700x. Could do you a good price, and if you haven't got rid of the 2080 could do a swap plus some cash/Amazon vouchers on top. (Wunty should vouch for me re: reliability as I've paid him for his spare PS5 pre-order).

No bother if not interested - just thought I'd mention it as I'm doing the same thing as you re: CPU but with GPU. I've decided maybe the best thing is to wait until things settle down next spring and also benefit from a wider choice of custom models/new versions of these GPUs. Plus, I've been thinking maybe finishing the final version of this PC build isn't sensible right now with a PS5 on the way, new TV and now my soundbar has started fizzing so perfect excuse to buy an atmos one to replace it. Only reason for the interest in the 2080 is stupidly having sold my 1080 when I stupidly thought I'd be able to easily pick up a 3070 ! So no working PC right now and the 34 UW monitor I bought 'for work' needs some MS Flight Sim action!

Ohhhh. I would be interested yeah. I might be keeping my 2080... I've gone a bit silly and specced up a Dan A4 build to have in living room/give to girlfriend. I'm just not sure if the 2080 will actually fit in the case (there are mixed reports online with my model of 2080), so waiting to test it out. Otherwise I was going to sell the 2080 and simply get a 10xx series mini card probably.

But yeah, would be interested in 3700X certainly.

Nice to see you are keeping in theme with the 'I'll pay anything for computer parts' attitude 😋.

In other news, Iím now using that 48Ē LG OLED CX I was talking about, hooked up to my 3080. I wouldnít recommend it for general pc use, but for games, holy crap, itís amazing.

Hmm... 4 stars on Trustpilot doesn't particularly bode well given I imagine even Cambridge Analytica probably has a 3 star score.

I've railed against these key sites in the past on here, but I am loathe to pay 100 odd quid for an operating system :/

Which I realise is also a pretty shitty attitude, but whatever.

Anybody else planning on opening multiple tabs of 6800XT disappointment tomorrow?

Bit wary about making the jump before reviews, but that seems to be the 2020 way...

I am still hovering over either a 6800 or a 3070, preference is probably the latter as I'm on an intel system.

Here's hoping the new AMD cards even out the stock a bit and end the mild price gouging which is going on at the moment.

Stock tomorrow is looking bleak and I wouldn't count on get one. The 25 looks the best bet with the AiB cards.

no hope of getting one without going into full twitch panic consumer mode, which i'm not prepared to do. april-june next year for relaxed amazon purchase.

Box and scan already have the kiss of death... I have a feeling this will be an even bigger shitshow than the 3000 series launches.

OCUK had a few hundred cards and Scan probably the same. 25 November is where you are most likely to get something with the AiB launch.

That's Gibbo's next Ferrari sorted then.

    Any proper benchmarks out yet?
