Registered 9 years agoCannot wait.
Depending on how well-optimised it is for touch screens, I might even get it for my Android tab. There's no release date for Android yet, but it says "TBA". Hopefully it won't be too far away.
Drizzt, your days are numbered.

I wanted one, but couldn't justify the price, then I saw this was being released and picked up the iPad the next day. -

Registered 9 years agoI hope the new characters have decent stats, and can fit in my party alignment-wise. I could never get Minsc and Edwin in my party without them trying to kill each other, unfortunately.
Well, not without cheating. -

And I will be playing a half elf ranger who is neutral good.
I will try to play an evil dwarf, or a wizard or something, but then I will restart as my trusty ranger that I have played in every D&D campaign ever. -

Registered 9 years agoI seem to remember it being quite difficult to be evil in the game. In that people will just start attacking you on sight, shop prices more expensive, etc. I guess having the evil characters generally being better stat-wise was a bonus, but it was still tough. I ended up being a stupid goody-two-shoes, except for killing Drizzt.
I'll probably just go chaotic-good fighter/thief. Or monk! They'll have BG2 classes in there!
EDIT: spoiler just in case

Registered 16 years agoHeh. I am always a Cleric in old school DnD games, with a bit of min-maxing, they always turned out really handy with a mace and shield even if they didn't have quite as high a THAC0 as a fighter, they were really versatile.
My Neverwinter Nights Cleric was utterly awesome, he had a spell that had a chance to reduce number of hitpoints on a character to 1. killed a couple of dragons with that one.
hmm....
maybe i should have posted the above under a different user id

Registered 16 years agoI think its because they had to resubmit it to Apple, and once you've done that you are at the mercy of Apple as to how long it takes them to review it, they release it after that.
Imagine how long it takes to review baldurs effing gate!!! -

Registered 18 years agoThe review isn't a content review, just a stability and binary review. Takes about 8 days currently to get through from submission to release - based on a recent submission from where I work - but I dunno if they can have a word and get bumped up that queue a bit. I certainly hope so, I'm jonesing for a BG iPad fix. -
Might get it on my prime but really depends how a touch screen works. Not Intreasted in the pc though version as plenty of rpgs already on pc.
On semi related note try out 'Bards Tale' on android its a decent if simple RPG.

Registered 14 years agoGiven how many people have no idea what the real Baldur's Gate is I'm hoping/looking forward to people being outraged that it's not the linear hack 'n' slash they remember from the PS2.
Not people in this thread obviously, or probably on Eurogamer at all, I'll have to look elsewhere for my fun, but I predict that it will happen. -

To be fair, the 28th was never supposed to be the original release, they brought it forward.

So in a roundabout way it hasn't been delayed, it just effectively means it was never brought forward in the first place and will be released when it was originally intended to be.
Sort of.
I'm not sure, I've been awake all night. -
Who gives a shit about the iPad version, the proper version is unlocking at 8 this evening. I'm giddy with anticipation and looking forward to sinking a silly amount of time into it all over again. -

They've put their forums into maintenance mode and the game still doesn't boot.
Excellent launch.
