Not the biggest fan of TV first thing in the morning, I think its quite intrusive when you're just trying to gather your thoughts for the day ahead. I'm far more likely to stick an album on and listen to it whilst having some tea and toast, ease myself into the day. Was just wondering if anyone else feels like me? And if so what are your favourite "Morning Albums", as I'm looking for some new ones. My current faves are Nick Drake - Bryter Layter Sufjan Stevens - Seven Swans Savath & Savalas - Apropat Any others? |

Love that album, then they had to go and ruin it all with Black Cherry!
Just thought of another one. Can't remember the name of it but it's on the first Sneaker Pimps album right at the end, and was featured in "The Wicker Man" - Bloody ACE morning song.

One of my favourite albums ever, though I tend to need something more uplifting of a morning (just to get me up!).
The original Strokes album was a car journey favourite for quite a long time. -

Then again I listen to them in the afternoon, evening and at night too!
Agree AGREE AGREE!!! John Mayer any time is the perfect accompaniment to life the universe and everything!
The AOL sessions are fantastic and are basically one man and his guitar. Very chilled, perfect morning music.
Most underrated singer as far as the UK goes, can't figure out why UK hasn't cottoned on to this guy!

Yeah, Is This It is perfect when you're in the car/house on your own and you just fancy thrashing it out. Brilliant album.
Peej - I quite liked Black Cherry, it was no Felt Mountain but I was into that whole electro sound and they did it really well. If you're after something a bit more like felt mountain check out 2 albums by a german producer named Ulrich Schnauss (theres a bio here)
more beautiful soundscapes for the best film soundtracks never made. And if you haven't already, make sure to seek out/purchaseCarl Craig's "More Songs About Food and Revolutionary Art" - IMHO one of the greatest electronic albums ever created. Hope that'll help you get over Goldfrapp letting you down!
edit - changed wording because home taping is killing music!

I liked some of Black Cherry (Twist, Strict Machine) but most of it was a bit self indulgent. I do like that guy's keyboard noises though.

Any decent hands in the air trance album. (NOT this unbelievably cringe-worthy so-called trance that sounds like pretentious bollocks with vocals from what sounds like an opera singer being tortured with nipple clamps.) -

Registered 17 years agoWow. Some people have bizarre early morning tendancies. I can't take anything harsh in the morning, and the only thing close to trance I could listen to when I first got up would be Sasha and Digweed Northern Exposure/Renaissance, and I probably wouldn't! Need to ease myself into the day.
As for phone alarm tunes, I rotate between the save game tune from Animal Crosing, Wind Wakers morning theme, or the OoT great fairy music. All which I got from this cool site -

Registered 17 years agoWell... At the moment, its Hexstatic waking me up, I have my Hi-Fi set to play cds to wake me up.
My alltime fave Has got to be OOIOO - 'Be sure to loop' which is the most gorgeous and uplifting song I know.
Actually, the day I bought DJ shadows 'the private press', i put it in the player, but forgot to play it. (I may have been distracted by something shiny) Anyone who knows the album can understand how bizzare it was to be wakened by hearing its first track for the first time.
Freaked me out... Man.

It depends, last few mornings I've had Blues & Roots by Charles Mingus and not long ago John Martyn's Solid Air. Kind of a contrast in speed and feel. -
