That premise really doesn't sound all that interesting, but I have faith that Bungie will do a good job. Will be interesting to see how they redefine the FPS as we know it though. Edit - I think 'Destiny' is a shite name for an epic sci-fi FPS too. I'm sure it'll make sense in the context of the game, but it just sounds a bit... limp. Registered 11 years agoI've kind of wanted a high quality/polished MMOFPS game for a while, so hopefully this will be something epic as I am sure Bungie will deliver something at least worth looking into. Hopefully it won't come with any kind of subscription though... as I am sure Activision would love to have another product that constantly drips large amounts of money into their pockets.
Some of the leaked artwork from the press pack looks very Promethean (Halo 4 not the film) though. -

Registered 11 years agoAn obvious idea might be to release the game on the next generation as well when that comes along and continue to expand it on those platforms, as it sounds like they are planning to 'grow' the game over time like any other MMO. -

Wasn't the first Destiny game meant to be a timed Xbox exclusive
With planned sequels released every other year and DLC code named Comet released in the years between.

Registered 11 years agoIf you look at the leaked info (are we allowed to link to them on here?) then it appears to be simultaneously releasing for the PS3 and 360 this October, so sounds like it wouldn't be exclusive, doubt Activision would allow them to sign exclusive deals for such a big game anyway.
And lets not forgot one of the reasons Bungie left Microsoft was so that they could break away from exclusive releases.

Registered 15 years agoBungie was allowed to do a PS3 version for launch if it was possible, turns out it likely was. Otherwise it would be Xbox exclusive for the first year.
Only thing I'm a little worried about is it being a current title rather than next gen. They surely can't go beyond Halo, BF etc. -
It said in original contract they weren't going to release first one on ps3 due to lack of experience with console. Activision agreed, wonder if outsourced? :/.
Wish they held it back for next x box launch. -
For all we know it might be next gen and this reveal will just say available on next gen consoles although on most of the leak photos it has Xbox 360 symbols with no ps3 symbol. -
