Zen Pinball 2 is well worth the money 7.99 for 4 tables; I already have the Zen Classic Pack featuring Tesla, El Dorado, V12 and Shaman on the PS3, I did however try the demos of these titles on the Wii U and they look graphically better, also the ball physics seem to have been improved.

I opted for the Marvel Avengers pack and I'm looking to add the single tables at 2.39 weekly and purchasing a 7.99 pack monthly. I'm really enjoying this at the moment.

Pinballs games are the type of game that you boot up to have a quick blast and end up playing for hours; Zen Pinball 2 was made for the Wii U Gamepad whether playing on the big screen or using the Off-TV-Mode, Id certainly recommend this game.

Any particular standout tables you'd recommend?
I've 25 of points so i'm looking to get something this weekend.

The best thing to do is download each and every demo table and try them out; then you can purchase the tables you like most. My dilemma is I enjoyed every table I tried.

Heh, that's what i feared. This could be expensive :)

Not a big fan of the Shaman table. It's far too easy to lose a ball on that one, so it's more frustrating than enjoyable. El Derado is my favourite. Simple, but challenging.

I'm playing through the trials now, but i'm still unsure whether it's worth just sticking to the 3DS version.

By the way, what camera view are people using on ZP2?
  • Deleted user 1 February 2013 18:43:40
I've been using view 5 mostly. It works well on the gamepad view.

I bought Mario off the eshop, thinking the 10% back premium deal would make the game a not too unreasonable 45. However it turns out that it actually works out eighty points rewarded to the pound spent. Works out I'm 80pts short for my first 5 back.

Oo yeah, feel the burn. That's fucking underhand.

    Hah what cunts!
  • Deleted user 1 February 2013 21:41:22
So I'm not alone in thinking it's not fair? What about arsery.
  • Deleted user 2 February 2013 03:39:45
You just don't buy retail on the eShop. The deal you thought you might get wouldn't have been worth it.
  • Deleted user 2 February 2013 17:32:54
I can't believe how much the 3D effect helps with Zen Pinball. It's harder to read the tables on the Wii U. A genuine surprise.

I've discovered view 6, which follows the ball up the table, to be my favourite camera view. I think it's the same as view 5 in the 3D version. I can aim for the ramps much easier in this view.

I'm looking forward to reviving the 'friendly competition' we had going with the 3DS game!

Looking to add more friends for this game. Only got a handful who own this game. Got plants vs Zombies and Epic Quest so far. If anyone wants to add me it's:

Bloody hell, Zen Pinball 2 is a timesink! I bought the Marvel Avengers, Plants vs Zombies and Paranormal tables and it's getting competitive in the house now :) Recommended and Off-TV Play is very neat. We were watching Last Leg the other night while passing the gamepad around for multiplayer pinball.

Looking at getting the Epic Quest table next as Miiverse seems to be enjoying it.

@addyb Add your name to the Wii U NID thread. I'll add you later as I'm about to have a bath.

I downloaded the Marvel Avengers pack; I really like the look of Plants vs Zombies and Epic Quest, I might download them tomorrow.

Will do mate. Got a few requests last night. One of them was you wasnt it?
  • Deleted user 4 February 2013 17:22:01
Is it worth creating a thread for Zen Pinball 2 for Wii U?

Anyways, i've just purchased the Zen Classic Pack, which includes my favourite and least favourite tables. Should be fun! I'm also looking to pick up the PvZ table and at least Excalibur and Earth Defense.

What tables has everyone else gone with, so far?
  • Deleted user 4 February 2013 18:48:40
I splurged on Marvel, Avengers, and the Vengeance packs since there won't be any other games out for a little while. Also picked up Epic Quest and PvZ. I can see that I'm going to be enjoying this game for the lifetime of the Wii U. Might as well create a pinball thread until such times as the miiverse smartphone app is available.

I'll put this here until someone creates a thread.
Assume on all these tables that i have no idea what i'm doing and that to me it's just flashy lights, loud sounds and sheer, bloody luck.
    Marvel Avengers Pack
    - Avengers - Good - housemate is brilliant at it.
    - Hulk World at war or something - i prefer it
    - Fear Itself - Bloody brilliant ball launcher design - i'm not too bad at this one.
    - Infinity Gauntlet - Crazy. Table rotates to top of the screen and reverses on one feature. Twisty.

Plants vs Zombies - Nice and cheerful after the EPIC OF MARVEL SHOUTING EPICALLY at you.
Paranormal - A bit cramped but lots to do and a wacky haunted house feature.

Mars - Nice looking and atmosphere but a bit sparse. Might be good for total novices
Fantastic 4 - I didn't get on with this one but my housemate did. Go figure.
Sorcerors Lair - I like this one. Well done theme and designs and nice to play.
Excalibur - Another decent table with lots of theatrics.
Earth Defence - It's got a giant robot on it, can't remember much else about it tbh.

    Trying next:

    Epic Quest
How do i delete a table i no longer want? In the Wii-U data manager i can only delete all DLC not the trial tables i don't want.

@addyb Yes I sent you a request last night.

As for Zen Pinball 2; I'd say "It definitely deserves a thread of its own, especially when I scored 103 million on (Fear Itself) No1 in the UK 2nd overall.

So Tank! Tank! Tank! is available now partly for free but with DLC content.

The way it works is you get a basic pack that includes Monster Battle, Free-for-All, and Team Versus play modes but you'll be limited to three play sessions of each mode per day. If you buy any of the DLC you get unlimited use of these modes.
The full price game got a lot of stick for being overpriced and not offering much content. According to Eurogamer and a couple of other reviews I have seen the games saving grace is a multiplayer mode called "My Kong" which is apparently a lot of fun as a party game. That part of the DLC only costs 1.59 until the end of February so it might be worth a punt.

Tempting. Still wish it had online play though.

Hey, F-Zero has screen tearing on the top half of the gamepad screen. It's quite noticable once you've first spotted it, though it's far from a game breaking experience. Hopefully it has something to do with them rushing the port and it'll be fixed some day.

F-Zero is up on the eShop and yes, you can play it on the gamepad.
It's still great and i'm still awful at it :)
  • Deleted user 24 February 2013 11:29:05
Aye, F-Zero has aged really well. It's extremely playable. I can't believe I had never played it before now.

It looks fantastic on the Gamepad too.

Now I really want to play the N64 sequel, I have fond memories of the random course generator making right angle turns after jumps. If you knew it was coming you could make the turn and watch the entire field fly off to their doom.

40 racers on the field too if I remember rightly?

Trine 2 looked lovely and I like the touchpad controls although taken as a whole it's rather clumsy. Might buy it after I've played through Skyward Sword and Galaxy 2 and tracked down Xenoblade.

How do you update the eshop, people on Neogaf going on about what is new, but my Eshop is showing nothing since a couple of weeks ago?
  • Deleted user 7 March 2013 17:38:54
The eShop should update automatically, every thursday. What are they saying has changed? The Wii U eShop has been quiet since the Monster Hunter Demo came out.
