Right, had a long post that somehow annoyingly got deleted. SO i'll get to the point. All week all I hear is hear is how the earth is overpopulated and is at cause to so many issues (climate change, diminishing resources). It also seems people are happy to recommend 1 child-per-couple (ala china) regulations. But what got me was how people had zero problems with just saying nature will find a way to regulate human population. Whether it's natural desasters or whatever. So cold, logical and rational, all very.....scientific. Makes me wonder, since we see people do things in he name of God, when will people start doing things in the name of nature? Can some dictator who goes on a mass genocide justify it as mother nature? As in, can't it be argued that his actions is just nature regulating our population? Or the way some people justify actions as if we're animals (technically, aren't we?). I wonder if they'll be a day when a man will justify rape with "well some sea lions do it". I'm just spouting bollocks, but it is interesting the cold way we are seeing human life these days. Or maybe we're all just being taken over by Agent Smith. |
So when will genocide be justified under "act of mother nature"?

Plans for world domination:
Create weather machine
Create earthquake machine
Recruit mole people
Activate machines
Wipe out country with snow and earthquakes
Build snow men
Blame Mother Nature. -

You're anthropomorphising nature to the extent of giving it a conscious, decision-making cortex of some kind.
As for a loon 'justifying' mass murder as a natural necessity, well - the critical historian in me quails at such simple answers, but - I don't think that actually makes much difference, given the end result and the likely methods, actual actions, et al.

On a serious note, can we please refrain from using Genocide if we refer to "the deliberate and systematic destruction, in whole or in part, of an ethnic, racial, religious, or national group". Unless you count the human race amongst those..... -
Correct, Rajin. Genocide isn't want TB meant, I reckon. He probably meant mass-murder on a global scale, irrespective of class, creed or colour.
Which is never how it would work if any human hand was involved, anyway. -
I haven’t had time to read the posts, but I felt I needed to say this based solely on the thread title.
I know not everyone is a fan of Phil Collins but you have to admit that I Can't Dance is a pretty iconic song. I think that song alone justifies them under “mother nature”, if I understand your question OP. But really... they’re old hat these and won’t get back together now anyway, so it’s hardly worth discussing.
