    Wow that's a bit of a hack! I haven't got one yet but I'll certainly bear that in mind. Surprised that feature is in it tbh.
    Yeah, itís nearly game-breaking. I had 3 of them by the end I think, I was just walking around not caring about anything. Something silly like 3000 souls to fix the regular ones and 6000 to fix the better one.

    So all I need is about 3000 souls and then I can effectively ignore losing souls all the time?

    Wow.

    Ah, hang on though -

    Prevents the loss of health and souls upon death, but breaks. Once broken, it can be repaired for 3,000 souls at a blacksmith. In Scholar of the First Sin, the cost is increased to 14,000 souls.

    I suppose it still has some use if you have an absolute shitload of souls like a million or something, and then it's viable to pay 14k to keep them intact. But if I had say, 25k, it's not so much of a bonus

    Is there a recommended order to use the fragrant branches of yore? Shaded woods one first maybe, or?

    Eh. Lost 50k-ish souls on a few occasions, still romped past 1.3million soul memory by the time I cleared Black Gulch/Rotten as the final "big soul".

    Trying to match up the number of undiscovered bonfire locations last night to what I thought was left and wondered why so many....?

    DLC innit ? Doh. Need to pay a visit to Vendrick tonight I feel....

    I'm sure there's a guide, but as long as you leave Straid in Bastille/Lion Warrior for bird lady key (Ornifex ?) until you have a few spare, you shouldn't get stuck. Ones like in Betwixt and between Heide/No Man's have shards etc which can be grabbed later.

    @oldschoolsoviet

    Nice one. Yes I did have a quick look and glossed over the shard ones as like you say they can wait. Cheers, I'll have a thorough look into it.

    Meanwhile, I've got both bonfires for the lost Bastille now, so I might as well have a crack at that and get to the blacksmith there to start using large titanite

    Yeah, played the original version. 14k is more substantial.

    Bloody hell. Did the ruin sentinels first time which is a bonus.

    But now I need a pissing pharros lockstone and I haven't got any! Doh

    And can the pursuer please just fuck off! He's spawned twice in 2 different areas of the lost Bastille. Bellend.

    He's a good source of twinkling though!

    Well done on the sentinels. They can be a ballache til you figure them.

    @wuntyate

    I can't get the bastard at the moment. I'm not good enough!

    I was under the impression that I should go to belfry next instead of sinners rise as it makes it easier in sinners rise doesn't it? I can't remember. Which is why I'm moaning about not having a pharros stone.

    This is where my memory gets really hazy

    @quadfather Ah, no, not any more. That was the vanilla version. The key you need to ,ake things easier in Sinners isnt far after the servants quarters bonfire. Near some crates at the edge of a broken path.

    That's exactly where I am! And yes, I've just picked up that key. So, do I just carry on in the tower and fuck belfry off then?

    I had a quick look what was there and saw the durability on the tooth so yeah, not fussed about that

    Yeah it's quite a pointless area tbh. Well, not pointless as NG+ you get a decent ring from the gargoyles but I never normally find it's worth the hassle in NG. Unless you're doing the Bell Covenant, but that's pretty dead these days.

    Also, the lost Bastille is smaller than I remember it. Though there is a bit more to do I guess as I'm not in sinners rise just yet

    Yeah it's not too big but there's lots of little bits to explore. I quite like the way it all connects.

    I got both bonfires to the Bastille this time, and took my time exploring both of them. But apart from the blacksmith bit, the swarm of swordsman area leading to boss, along with another few nooks and crannies, I couldn't see much else.

    Though I can't remember how to get the item that's really high up on a corpse. Just above the steps where the Jailor kicks down that exploding barrel that you use to open up the blacksmith area / bonfire.

    It's been years though, and a lot of it is blurry in my memory. Which is kind of cool in a nostalgic way. But not so cool when you're trying to figure out which fucking areas you've done or not done, but fuck it, making progress. It's the progress and exploring that I like the most anyway.

    @wuntyate

    Still a bit more for me then as I'm up to 4

    Tower apart from the nest
    Main entrance from no man's wharf. Or near anyway
    Blacksmith mcguff
    Servants quarters
    Guess I'm missing one that's further ahead? (Im at the exact spot where I've just picked up the key and about to turn round and go into the tower)

    Straids bonfire, with all the suicide bomber zombies around. It's before the long bridge to the tower leading to Lost Sinner.

    I relied on all the "secret door" messages to get me through all that bit. And git gud against Pursuer, they spawn all over in SotFS. Just roll into his shield, either once or three depending on combo, but always into his shield.

    Ah yes, Straid, and those fucking exploding baby bastards.

    I'll have to sit down and practice pursuer. I keep stupidly going back to sword and shield for re-exploring, but I really need to 2 hand the axe so it forces me into roll mode for the fucking colossal bellend.

    I don't know why I'm tempted to start Dark Souls 2 again. Maybe it's because I re-finished the first game just now and kinda want to see how it really compares.

    Might actually go for the 360 version just for kicks? I don't have the DLC for it, but everyone got the SOTFS update.

    The original 360 version is... yeah. It got the update but not the revised enemy placement which impoves the game a fair bit imo. I still liked it enough to finish it a few times mind you.
