    You're not going to love the monitor when you have to run it on less-than-native resolution because the mini's 9200's video memory can't cope with Exposé in that res though ;_;
but you noticed that he said they're sending the monitor straight away, so he'll be using it on the powerbook for the time being so it's all good ;)

anyway, like losty is saying it will work, just not as silky as you'd hope.

Surely expose is more limited by the CPU's ability to throw around the pixels than the limited graphics memory to hold the 2D image? Isn't that what Core Image (or whatever it is called) is meant to change?
core image gets the gpu doing a bunch more stuff throughout the ui, but expose is handled by treating each window as a high res texture to sling around.

hurrah. i never expected the time we spent at ninjitsu lessons learning how to take a samurai's sword and kill him with it would have any use.

/does some painful-looking stretching exercises to prepare for battle.

their prices have fooked up on the apple store. If you go for bluetooth and wifi together it costs £150, each individual adds up to £85. What?

The prices on the 1.4ghz are OK, and have gone down. The 1.25 is well chuffed though!

Hehe, it's much more obvious on this one that it's a send up. On the mac mini article after reading the first couple of paragraphs I thought what a twat, then it started to dawn on me that it wasn't serious.

I did notice there's quite a few of them already on ebay, and have been for some time. Quite interesting to see what you get in the box, if you are sad like me that is.

I read somewhere that there was a problem with the Chinese customs and the minis were stuck there.

In the UK store the expected delivery for a mini is now 2-3 weeks (it was 3-4).

I walked into the Oxford Street store and they have sh1t-loads of them...

I suggest this might be a good option for those who want one and can get to a tube station easily...

I do so hope they deliver it to the right country this time.

Patience, Jedi. It will turn up. We will, however, be expecting photos.

I am posting from my new Mac Mini! Hooray. Arrived today after all, just after breakfast. Nice one! Took hours to transfer all my stuff over from my powerbook, but now it's up and running.

First impressions: wonderfully small; in terms of operation, seems exactly the same as the powerbook, speed-wise. It's far noisier than I had expected - background hum at all times, quickly ratchets up to Ariane V levels when a few programmes are open. On that score I'm a bit disappointed, seeing as everyone had been saying how silent it is. The built-in speakers are absolutely dreadful, but that's to be expected. Photos will follow shortly... :)

I had heard that the 1.4 (?) version is much louder than the slower one. Maybe there is a setting in OSX to 'speed step' so full cooling isn't needed at all times? I think you mac users are spoiled re computer noise - my shuttle is fecking noisy, and I replaced the stock fan with a supposedly quiet one.

The power supply looks quite big (in relation to the Mac mini, anyway), I wonder why they didn't use an iBook/iPod sized one?
