The doctor has a very strong Scottish accent, so I could understand some things she was saying, but a lot went straight over my head. (not difficult!!).

    5 ops?!

    5!

They said one to me if I want to go down that route. Who'd choose to have heart surgery?!

I'm still not that keen on the idea, because if they mess up it's pacemaker time.

Don't panic - you can continue to drink alcohol with beta blockers - you just need to exercise a little caution as it can exacerbate the side effects especially if you drink large amounts.

THe odds on the messing up bad enough to cause that kind of damage are about 1 in 250 they told me. They only messed up twice, the rest were partial successes/'exploritories'.

And it's not 'open' heart, as I'm sure you know, although it is scary as fuck to think about.

Edit: and when I say messed up, there weren't any complications. As far as I know it only takes one go normally.

I thought the thread was going to be about Windows Ad Blocker Beta version 4. I've been on Beta Blocker, but they did sweet FA for me. Mine were prescribe for anxiety, also beta blocker can thin the blood, people with heart conditions use them frequently.

You are a light in the darkness!!!. I don't drink large amounts anyway, but have always thought drugs and alcohol were a no no regardless. The thing is, you hear to many different things. As you say, a little caution is required!!
