Otherwise all the cars could be stacked on top of each other.
They use it to know where the traffic is. -

This way Apple know when to break into your house and steal your PC. -
Is this question as stupid as it sounds?
Why would it need to know where the cars are to tell you where the cars are? -

Registered 10 years agoSurely otherwise it would be streaming you data for every road in the entire country and the bandwidth would be silly. Whereas by knowing your location it can just send the area you are in? -

Registered 14 years agoThe question isn't as silly as it sounds at all - if all you're doing is viewing traffic data then it could get the location of the traffic you're interested in from, you know, the bit of the map you're looking at. It would have to be disabled when you zoom out to a certain point though because, as my sage fellow forumites have pointed out, it would consume all the bandwidth in the known universe.
That said, the OP clearly is conducting illegal illicit activities and doesn't want to be tracked. I've passed their IP address to the proper authorities. They should be knocking at the door about...... now. -
Personal data is the new virtual currency these days, your information is worth a lot of money to companies. It's also good for governments because they can keep a close eye on what their citizens are doing. -
