After having problems with my shiny new PC as detailed previously, this morning (just to compound the fact I was attempting to do my tax return) the little f*cker went bang and died.

Now I know that this is in all likelyhood the PSU, but I can't put my own in because I'll invalidate my warranty. So I've got to send the damn thing back AGAIN.

How will I survive without Eve-online?

    BAH!!!!

Shouldn't that be PC goes squiffy? ;)

The PSU will most often smell quite a bit if it went bang.

Took a whiff just after it happened, and yes; there was that telltale electrical burning smell.

    Coool. This helps me actually.
My gf has been using my old machineand it went POP! a while ago.
There was a nasty burnie smell but the thingbooted up and ran.

    We shut it down.

    Tried again.

    POP!

    Now it won't boot anymore.
I opened it up and couldnt't see any component that looked exploded, scorched, etc ... so it's still out.

Judging from the above, maybe I should pick up a new PSU and see if that fixes it.

    Cheers.

edit: just making my post SFW in light of the insanly high levels of background "sexual innuendo" residues.

More KY needed, that or a smaller strap-on

(sorry, couldn't resist. you KNOW that using the word "Box" on here is worse than using the word "ring")

It might but I would suspect that your system stability would have been comprimised. Mostly after a blown PSU the system can get very jumpy. Best thing would be regular back ups just in case. It's usually the hard disk that is effected in my experience.

    /shakes fist @ M&M

I reckon Peej just wanted to get even for the manboobs.
    :-P

So I should also avoid comments like:

"geez my ring is itching today, I think I'll take it off?"
