How about "The Covers"? Myself, I've always wanted to go see a band called "Skeletal Pride". Dunno why. |

Errrrm.
See my first post for our last set list...
I was going for the "what kind of music does your band play?" In the hope I'd get the response "none, I'm not in a band", but I didn't spot that he already plays the guitar. So that kind've backfired.

Hey, now, wait a minute...
That's... well, it's some sort of copyright infringement, anyway. I think. Oh, hang on, I forgot to send off for that copyright shit, didn't I? dammit.
Well, bang goes my upgrade. My future me is probably already some sort of hardcore porn website, now.
Or something. -

Registered 18 years agoIf coverbands play decently - live - that is, they're the best thing you could hope for if your fave band is dissolved or doesn't give concerts anymore.. And just playing for your own pleasure is not something anybody should disagree with.. coming up with a name can be one of the toughest tasks a band can find, if everyone wants their opinion heard also..
Why no do the Beatles/Apple name story..? -

Registered 20 years ago'Harry on the Sun' is a good band name. Easy to remember, harmless to everyone and different enough to stand out.
New Order used to just go through the papers picking words or sentances from the articles for song names. Worked well for them. -

Registered 17 years agoHey boo,
Nice list of covers there. Apart from the ABBA one obviously
)
Played in cover bands for a long time and while it is great fun you should at least have a sideproject where you write some tunes. It aint hard man.
Glad to know you're playing for fun though. There's way to many tosspots around who take it way to seriously.
Anyhow band names....
Got a few old ones you're more than welcome to.
Garda Patrol.
The Arson Kings.
Matt Vinyl and the Undercoats.
Rock on! \oo/_

Registered 18 years agoboo, do you guys do straight covers or do you tweak them into your own style a bit? there was a covers band that used to play the firkin in watford, twas a typical 3 or 4 piece with a male singer and they did a cranked up, rocked out, fully distorted version of mamma mia and it is the greatest rock song ever.
name wise i thought half decent and in need of a new name were pretty cool.gif)
my cheesey 80's rock band is evil robot us's for the old bill & ted's reference, and the potential of a fan club called lesser developed human prototype us's. i can't help but love those names. so you can't have them. -

Anyone fancy a Boo's Band's Gig Geekmeet? -
Eviltobz - most of the covers are pretty faithful to the originals. We put the two Xmas songs and the Kylie/S Club/Abba cheese in at the last minute for a Christmas party - the Abba is straight but the other two rock like bastards!
The AC/DC number is still band fave though!
'Take On Me' goes down surprisingly well and is good fun to play too.
As for gigs, thus far we've only done private stuff (the band was put together to play at the guitarists g/f's 40th birthday and we decided to carry on).
We're all getting together in a couple of weeks to decide on some new songs and then we're going to look for some proper admit-the-public type gigs, probably in and around London, but we'll travel.
Weddings, parties, barmitzvahs, geekmeet/lan-parties!!
It's going to have to shut down between mid-july and mid-September though - wedding stuff!
If and when we get a gig sorted I shall of course let you all know.
And on the subject : Tobz - any gigs coming up?
